Martian Manhunter: ok now he may need some origin time.
From a profit point of view, they need to make movies for each of these characters, with budgets based on the popularity of the characters. I don't think a Martian Manhunter movie will be as big as a Wonder Woman movie.

Assault Rifle powers will always call for a costume piece in the Assault Rifle category. You cannot customize this on the fly. You can possibly add custom animations, but these animations will still be required to spawn a costume piece from the Assault Rifle category. This is no more mutable than it is to tell a power which pet to spawn. This isn't doable in the current game.

Powers in City of Heroes are hard-coded to call a specific visual effects script which determines what animation is played, what effects are displayed and what props are summoned. Weapons are customizable by altering the FX script to "enable" a costume piece instead of spawn a static prop, and then giving the player the ability to customize this costume piece within a very rigid set of boundaries. Colour and animation customizations work by altering this script, as I understand it, to read off player-mutable variables for its colours and settings. But at the end of the day, the powers system still reads from ONE script, and that one script has one activation sequence hard-coded into it. There is no evidence to suggest that the current game system is even capable of customizing this without new tech.

    ---

All of that said, I support the spirit of the idea on a larger scale. The ability to customize weapon powers into non-weapon powers, or powers using different classes of weapons, as well as customizing non-weapon powers to use weapons instead, is just about the final frontier of new tech for the character editor, beyond which there isn't much left to ask for. I want this to be INTRODUCED, however, and see no point in arguing that it already exists when it doesn't. Not yet.

I was gonna PM you Sam to explain, but you beat me to it.

I do like what I can see of the 'Smallville'-ized Booster costume, though I agree what little there is visible of Beetle looks gawd awful. And they damn well better have Skeets in there!
People really think Clark will ever become Superman in this show? (Morphious eye-brow raise) Hmm.
  5. I don't think it's the costume creator, I think it's the models themselves. A few more polies wouldn't hurt.
  6. I think your forgetting that, in the case of projection powers, the source of the power is also part of the power itself. You would literally have to make several versions of the same powers for each point of projection.
  7. Standard code rant:

Tying powers to costume pieces can't be done with player models.
  8. Dynamic Content (tm)branching, non-combat missions where you can earn points toward toward certain skills, like hacker, scientist, investigator, etc by doing certain tasks often enough. You could also get bonuses like faster glowie dowloads in missions, or the need for fewer clues and such. This, as it has been said, could be built on top of the combat mission to take some of the focus away from just getting to 50.
  9. Dynamic Content (tm) With that, you don't need an end-game, because it's never that same game every time you log in.
  10. I feel like I am becoming Martin Henri of destructible environments, but I wanted to rekindle the discussion of being able to lift and throw object as discussed in this thread http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=240853a while back. While I fully understand why this can't happen in the open world, the instanced missions would be open for all kinds of "mayhem". I had an idea for picking up and throwing select objects in the previous thread that I still feel may have some validity. I wanted to see if there were any fresh perspectives on the subject?
  11. I may be dating myself, but every time I think of Captain America movies, I think of this theme song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exLO3zKa69Q

    Your Top 5

Dynamic Content (tm)! The city need to feel more "active". Bad guys standing on street corners waiting to be beaten up is no way to make us feel heroic. Random even should happen at every level, not just zone-wide city invasions, but gang wars, REAL robberies with police actions in the open city, rescuing people from random burning buildings, not just canned fires at the same building over and over. Give us real damage during invasions with real panic and fires and explosions make use feel that the people of the city are really in danger! The new missions from Ray Cooling is a perfect example of this, why can't we have more missions where the civilians actually seem like they're in danger? The canvas is already there, what we need now is the initiative.

It's like they heard all the criticism that redside didn't make you feel evil enough and filled the missions with evil for its own sake.
I personally feel that the Devs missed an opportunity with Safeguard and Mayhem missions to give heroes and villains that type of variety. Give heroes missions where that get clues and special items to stop an NPC villain plot, where the villain get to choose a path for form a plot and along the way stop an an NPC hero along the way.
  14. Now voices are out of the question, but I would like more ambient noises.

  16. If I were to take a "flight-of-fancy" look at it, it seems the Well doesn't care who gets it's power, as long as someone has the will to make it to the bottom of the rabbit hole. At the moment, the front-runner is Cole, but I think the the reward for winning the race isn't what Cole thinks it is. If I had to guess, I would say the Well wants a "walkin' around" body that can contain it's entire being. Now why the well would want this now is a mystery, but seeing as how we have had some "issues" with Rularuu lately, I would imagine the Well may sense a threat that Rularuu may reconstitute it's fragmented psyche and start consuming all of reality again.

They'll probably just give her a pair of glasses to use as a disguise. I hear that works pretty well.
  20. Honestly, I can see past the shiny and and the makeup (which is reflective of the comic) and I think it looks ok. If anyone here though WW would be running around in a corset and bikini bottoms, is not quite in touch with reality, even Linda Evens had problem with the outfit she wore in the 70's and those look like granny-panties compared to today. I do think they could have made the effort to make the boots red though. Over all, this show will live or die on the script and cinematography. It has to look amazing and be intriguing.

Funny, everyone seemed ok with this even today.
