Wondering what Ultra Mode looks like with all the bells and whistles turned up? Well, keep wondering, because the pics below don't even include Ambient Occlusion! (Ambient Occlusion is currently not playing well with FSAA {full screen anti-aliasing}, which, IMO, improves the view many times more so than AO. They're working on it with ATI.)
So, here is a tour of Port Oakes with UM on Super Ultra settings.
Tips on viewing:
1. Use F11 for full screen mode viewing (works on FF and IE).
2. Use CTRL+Mousewheel to shrink pics to fit your screen (in FireFox, make sure that Zoom Text Only isn't checked in View > Zoom.
(Permission granted to use these shots in any non-commercial way anyone wants: fan sites, splasher screens, screen savers, etc...)
These pics were taken with an ATI Radeon 5970, which is two 5870s Crossfired (and Crossfire isn't enable yet). -
Quote:Interesting tidbit: Since Open Beta, that page has received over 4,000 new hits as of this post date. While you're beta-ing about, be sure to get all the information your brain will hold, including checking out the main Issue 17 article itself, over at our humble corner of the Internet.

You can keep a Mk III Analyzer window open and watch the Resistance fields.

Quote:All correct.I think I know how basic drop mechanics work. If something dies it has random chance to generate enhancements, recipes, etc. and if a team killed it it randomly goes to a member. What can be generated is determined on the mob end, not the player end.
Any foe that can drop a level 50 recipe can drop a Purple. So, a level 47 minion can drop a Purple. You don't have to be level 50 to receive a Purple as a drop, you have to be 50 to *use* the Purple and slot it. Any team member, regardless of level is a valid recipient of a Purple.Quote:Purples are a bit different though, in that as far as I know they only drop for lvl 50 characters. My basic question is, does it work the same in that it checks to see if a purple drops, and then assigns it to a valid team member? If so, it would obviously have the effect of giving 50s a reason to farm with lower lvl toons who can't receive purples. -
Quote:It should. In the meantime, the official site is actually helpful in this regard! It actually has screenshots of the sprints: www.cityofheroes.com/community/veteran_rewards/12_month_milestone_loyal.html#thumbsThank you. I wonder if the pic and a link to the video should be in the listing for the Prestige Sprints on ParagonWiki.
Excellent video!Quote:Looks like it's time for another edition of ... Video Player Questions.

Though, it should be mentioned that the craftable winged boots is another way to have a movement aura. And it stacks with the other prestige auras. http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Costume_Piece:_Winged_Boots -

Quote:Absolutely yes! There are a lot of people looking for Prestige Slide and it's out of print. This is fast money.
- CoH Collector's Edition in-game goodies. VIP/Destined One badge, Prestige Power Slide temp power, and the Cape of the Four Winds costume piece.
- CoV Collector's Edition in-game goodies. Arachnos cape and chest symbol.
As a suggestion, get a programmer to bundle the above into a new Original Collector's Editions In-game Goody Pack code for people to throw money at Paragon Studios.
FREE STANDALONE COSTUME CREATOR
Just like the Korean City of Hero had, but with a nice little button "start CoH trial." Just put a ticket in with programming, or get BAB to animate it during his free time.
Yeah, I don't know how in-game advertising got involved in this. In-game advertising is not the marketing of CoH unless it's a reciprocal deal. In-game advertising is a money-stream which seems to have died on the vine since the target audience is small, especially when you consider that it can be turned off. Don't know why any advertiser would pay for that kind of deal. -

Quote:Ahh... so the Devs and Marketing are playing the old, "Go ask your Mother..." "Go ask your Father..." game with us! I knew it!There are only two rednames that fear me. Sorry to shatter the myth.
That sounds ni... wait, what?Quote:I wear a button-down t-shirt. -
Welcome to the asylum!
1. What kind of deal has NCSoft with Chuck and Big Bang Theory that Aion and CoH merchandise gets product placement? Do you and the NCSoft Dept. of Evil plan to expand on that kind of marketing?
2. While commercials are very expensive, you guys don't think one targeted at superhero fans for all those TV superhero cartoons and live action series and bumpers for superhero movies in theaters wouldn't be worth the cost?
3. Drop off tons of Bootleg disks at comic stores.
4. When Going Rogue comes out, get after all the gaming websites and Metacritic to re-do their game rating and combine CoH and CoV into one product review. Those six year old reviews with CoH and CoV being separately rated is detrimental to CoH press. Especially since a lot of sites gave CoV a higher score than CoH, but when people look up the ratings for CoH, they see the old, lower CoH score.
5.Quote:Wow. GMTA. I've thought about this for years. I'd set the challenge thusly: Tim says, "Designers, your model is attending a high-fashion costume ball with the theme of 'super heroes'. So, she is your client for this challenge. To help with the design process, you'll be using the costume tool of NCSoft's popular super-hero online game, City of Heroes...."How about a tie-in with Project Runway? Since we have one of the best character creators out there, it seems to me this might be a natural. Have the contestants design their own super-hero costume using the tools here as part one. Then as part two, they actually have to implement the design in real materials on a real model. They would have a choice of using a female or male model.
Sexy Jay would of course be the face of CoX for this challenge.

I don't think Joe went out to PAXe. I'm guessing that's Dragonslay himself in the photo.
Plus, he's not wearing the Paragon polo shirt. Plus, Joe's shorter in other pics compared to the others in the photo posted above.
They are from left to right: Eric (TheOcho/Moderator08) Cleaver; Melissa (War Witch) Bianco; EM (EMpulse) Stock; and Matt (Positron) Miller. -

I whipped up a quick vid of what a Parkour travel power would look like here.
