GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

We don't want to add plagues to honor dead heroes.
That would just be ridiculous.
And for once, I have to agree with Techbot Alpha.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.

I was never a huge fan of Jack Emmert but let's keep in mind that just because he used the Statesman as his Avatar doesn't mean he logged on and roamed the city battling crime and doing good deads. It was a "code" name or Call SIgn for lack of another way of putting it. When he left Statesman, the in game icon, still existed until he was finally killed off this year.
Sam makes some excellent points FOR a statue.. Statesman is COH's Superman (big, strong and sort of inflexible when it comes to what is good and evil) and I suppose if we wanted to carry that further we could reflect and say Manticore is a sort of a Batman type character (No special powers just very highly trained, Rich and uses that to finance his efforts, and doesn't always play by the rules). Now if Superman died tomorrow Metropolis would start building the statue the day after .. The Man of Steel saved that city and the entire world from total devastation countless times. Now personally I like Batman better, prefer my heroes with a bit more of an edge to them, but Batman's style is to avoid publicity if possible and while most of Gothem City knows who he is there would probably be a bigger party going on hosted by all the villains than a crowd outside city hall demanding a statue to him.
Statesman was the FACE of City of Heroes..... every time you logged on you stared at a picture of him with a variety of other heroes following behind. Until the incarnate system began arguably, because we here can and do argue everything imaginable, the biggest threat to Paragon City was Lord Recluse.. and Statesman was one of the main reasons why Recluse didn't openly invade Paragon City. The ICON is dead and there are statues all over the city of fallen or simply retired heroes ...
Dauntless was Galaxy Girl's sidekick until he died in battle, defending his mentor with his last breath. The Dauntless Badge is in the southern end of the Hide Park neighborhood of Skyway City. Halfway along the southeastern north-south wall, there is a large statue of Dauntless flexing his arms. The badge marker is sixty feet in front of that statue. |
Were always the good guys. In D&D, were lawful good. In City of Heroes were the heroes. In Grand Theft Auto we pay the prostitutes promptly and never hit them with a bat. Leonard
Those women are prostitutes? You said they were raising money for stem cell research! Sheldon
So you guys are safe from the blasphemy of agreeing with each other *this* time.
And FYI, Shayla, the hero holding up the globe in Atlas Park is an early hero named Atlas. He's also who the zone, Atlas Park, is named after.

So Galaxy Girl's sidekick gets a statue in Skyway but STATESMAN doesn't? |
I might point out that in real life when some one of consequence dies it some times takes a while for a statue to be made, I would suspect that since they said they where slowly redoing the city like they did atlas that at some point he will have a statue they may even do like they did for the arenas and have a construction site with him at various stages of completion, but story line wise the guy just died and unless they have some hero with stone control abilities stomp on the ground making one shoot up out of the earth it will take normal people some time :P

Not only that, but there are villains afoot. I'm sure there'd be some around actively thwarting/stealing the funds for such a project if only in spite. So yeah, it'd take time if at all. Considering they're still trying to finish rebuilding Overbrook, it's equivalent to expecting the city to put up a building sized statesman statue hours after his funeral.

Wasn't Statesman Jack Emmert's character (and Sister Psyche)? That is, it was based off of a PnP character made by Jack then adapted to the game? No idea if he trademarked the character but this may be why they chose to end the characters' involvement so as to limit the use of intellectual properties belonging to those outside the company. They're already using Cryptic's game engine, no need to require royalties or intellectual acknowledgement when they've already drastically changed the game from that of his (Jack's) original creation not to mention him being apart of their competition.

Sorry, triple post...

Now oncerning your other post I understand what you are saying but keep in mind this is not the real world. You mention Overbrook (faultline) .. now the devs have already said that revamping an older zone, like they did with faultline, is harder and takes more time than creating a new one.. which is why we got Cimerora and a totally new Dark Astoria. IF they everdecide to complete the rebuilding of Overbrook I imagine that would be the same.. A complete removal of the old zone and a new one put in.
We are not talking about anything so drastic.. not even as intense a project, for the devs, as redesiging Atlas Park. Pick a spot and put up a statue. It doesn't need to be tomorrow or next month .. Make it a part of issue 24 or even 25 but do it. Once again I suggest something as simple as going to steel canyon and popping out the statue of M-1 and plopping down one of States. Doesn't require any huge rearranging of the map since a statute already exists in that spot and it pays tribute to a fallen hero we ACTUALLY knew.. can anyone claim they fought side by with or battled against M-1(?), Dauntless(?), Galaxy Girl(?) or any of the other heores the sity has statues honoring? If so you played that mission in AE lol

What if you are role-playing as a character that WAS around in the '30's or fought in WWII? And didn't a lot of heroes die during the first Rikti invasion, which was in 2002?

Villains are those who dedicate their lives to causing mayhem. Villians are people from the planet Villia!
Just gonna put this out there:
90% of my toons are heroes, and I don't want a Statesman statue somewhere obvious. If anything, I think we need a Sister Psyche statue that's large and somewhere of importance. I've always liked her best of the Phalanx and found her to be a more developed, likeable character than Statescrotch, er, Statesman.
Well here my 2 cents worth! Think about what it would cost to completely tear down or simply move one giant Statue from one place to say another zone. (In real life The cost would be astronomical) Also in game terms that would also cost money the change the landscape. But aside from that. I agree we should have something for both. I have played this game for a number of years and those two have always been a part of it (A big Part).
S small simple setting in a good location. I would suggest in the grass area out in front of where Hero 1 is holding the giant Globe in Atlas park. It should be life size and meaningful for both. Put a plague there for both. Positron should make the Dedication. That should be it.
Now called Madame Shayla:
