(Need a Mod?) New Freedom Account Not Recognizing Old Account

Hi there. Wanted to get back into CoH. I haven't played in about two years. I updated my old account to VIP status and have linked my new Freedom account with my old one (I think).

My old account definitely says I currently have VIP status.

I cannot log into my old account with the game client, and when I log into my new Freedom account, it doesn't give me any of my old characters or VIP status.

HALP!

There is no Live Chat right now. I don't want to go into the game and wait for a mod as I'm concerned I'll screw up my account further.

Are there any mods here that can help?

By "linked", do you mean you created it under the same NCSoft Master Account? What error do you get (be specific!) when you try to log in with the old account?

You might need to change your password from the NCSoft Master Account page (the game password, not the master account password).

Your old game account is the one that has your old characters and VIP status.

The new game account is simply that, a new game account under the same Master Account as the old game account. It does not access your old game account, any characters on the old game account or anything else dealing with the old game account except for being on the same Master account.

If you log in with your old game account after changing that password, you can file a support ticket using the Ask A Question tab on the City of Heroes support site using the https://support.cityofheroes.com address.

You will have to log in with your support account if you have one. It may not be the same as your game account information as they can be different.

If you have never created a support account, you will need to create one.

And no, the forum mods have nothing to do with game account support so they cannot help you with this except to give you instructions to file a support ticket.

EDIT: You cannot file an in-game support ticket from the new account as that account is not a VIP account. Only VIP accounts get access to in-game support. Your only option would be to file a support ticket as I listed above if changing the old game password doesn't let you get in or waiting until Monday when Live Chat support is available..


If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Go here and see if you can login. Once you get through that and can see your old account info, change your password to something you'll remember. Use this login info to get into the game making sure to choose the "link to account" option on the login screen (keeps character placement, etc).

So to clarify for you; to get access to your old VIP account you need it's Game Password. It's likely different from your Account Password. Since you know your NCSoft masteraccount login information login to the website, click on the accountname of your VIP Account, then click Change Password. You can simply make a new one without knowing the old one(since you have already shown you know the billing password, which trumps the game one).

THEN you can open CoH, and use your AccountName and new password and you should be able to login.

So if the game password is the only issue with getting into your VIP account you should be able to solve it without even needing to contact support!
