The difference between a SR scrapper and a SR brute?
OMG serious???? I read in the beta thread that it does nothing. So is it just claws and the ATO or any set with ATOs?
|
YOU'RE the Evil one.

And yes, the Brute ATO proc is in a close race with the stalker one for the Most Awesome, with the Tanker proc a distant third and everything else in a pile-up of wretched mediocrity waaaaay back behind those three.
Brutes Are Better. It's not even close any more.
So... after reading this thread, I dumped 800million on a full set for the new BZB and stuck it in followup. (Losing my Gaussian CFBU in the process...)
Then I threw him at a pylon and was surprised to see 269% damage buff. That's 9% from set buffs, 60% from double stacked followup and 200% from 100% fury.
Worth every inf.
Be well, people of CoH.

Heh wow, I wasn't keeping up with that during the beta and assumed that that result was in error. If brutes are meant to be at 100% fury with no effort now, uhhh, maybe scrappers do need buffs? Me, I'd nerf that proc.
Brutes aren't meant to be at 100% fury with no effort. They're meant to be at 100% with an 800 million inf expenditure utilizing the set in a high use attack chain or saturated aura. Or as with normal for our devs, they nerfed so that they could buff in some other way. ED gave us IOs, the fury nerf gave us brute ATO.
Just for the hell of it, I'm crunching claws numbers using 95% fury and 14% crit rate for scrappers on the single target attack chain.
EDIT: That's funny. With my current claws chain/enhancements/etc:
Scrapper 198
Brute 199.5
yea, not seeing a problem here.
EDIT2: Oh, superior goes to 16...
Brute 199.5
Scrapper 201.7
Still not seeing a problem.
Be well, people of CoH.

At any rate, I'm not leveling a scrapper right now so what the hell do I care. It seems the correct course of action would be to slot the brute set on my brute and enjoy it while it lasts!

Here's the build. I'd probably 5-slot the Brute set including the proc into Slash, leaving the -RES proc in place. Chain is FU-Focus-Slash (repeat).
I like Claws, but I think I like TW more now.

I had been thinking of rerolling my claws/sr scrapper to a brute as well. Luckily I got the brute proc in a pack, so I wont have to spend that much money on it.
Thanks alot BillZ, as if I didn't already have enough projects.
Willpower has more passive regen than Regen does. Who thought that was a good idea?
Can we get a fix for Energy Melee instead of more new sets?

Brutes are solidly back to parity damage-wise with Scrappers, and still have the solid lead in hit points and the crushing lead in Resistance.
And yes, my two favorite brute builds, claw/inv/body and fire/wp/soul are both massive performers.
ss/fa/mu is still the "omgwtfbbq" combo, though.

Brutes are better. Ehn. I'm used to it.

For some reason becuase of how things are going I think in the near future scrapper proc will just give %100 critical chance increase :P
When the ATOs first appeared on beta, the brute proc was a percentage bonus to fury generated from your attacks, and was really, really terrible. They then changed it to a proc that just grants 5/7 points of fury directly (for the normal/superior version). This is already quite a lot more useful, and lets you maintain fury much higher than a situation would normally allow. On top of that, it seems to be proccing from multiple targets in AoE attacks, or something, because I am getting way more than 5 fury per activation with the proc in Burn, although that might be a bug, so it might change.
