I'm a "child of the 80s" and think I saw maybe half an episode of this show back when it was first on TV.
I like Depp regardless but I don't even care enough about this franchise to be upset about it being remade into a movie good or bad. *shrugs*

Saw this movie Saturday night and loved it. It's definitely right up my alley of rated R, raunchy humor. The big surprise is that Tatum has some comedy chops, I think its mainly because he's playing a dumb jock and it all comes natural to him, whereas in his serious movies he comes across as a dumb jock.

I have no connection the source material other than my Mom used to really love the show. I'm sure fans won't like their beloved series being turned into an Apatow-esque buddy copy movie, but for me it was great.

One of my favorite parts is Ice Cube's Captain Dickson. He's nasty and he constantly uses MFer. It's refreshing to see the real Ice Cube again.

Also, this movie is very aware of what it is. Early on, when explaining what the investigation is a character says "They don't have any original ideas anymore so they just keep rehashing the same old crap over and over and hopes that no one notices." (extreme paraphrase).

Also, Rob Riggle = instant win. If you liked The Other Guys you'll like this, see it.

It was funny! I didn't think it'd be all that great when I first saw the trailer, but watched it anyways and found it to be quite fun!

It's not a great movie, but it is funny, so how much you enjoy it really depends on what kind of movie you're in the mood for.

And in case you're a fan of the original show, there is a lot of references and cameos.

Hey! If that's based off the comic book it might actually be good.

As long as they keep Michael Bay away from it, and they don't try to make it into a musical.

Not even remotely interested in seeing this.

It looks to be soooooo far off from the original material, they should have given it a different title.

I felt the same way about "I Robot"... even though I enjoyed that movie, I felt it should have had a different title.

It's far off, in so much as it's more comedy/action, than the shows drama.

That could of been what made it work in it's favor though. And personally I didn't know about the guest appearances (but I wondered if there would be) untill right before I went to the movie and I thought they were great.
