Rulu-Shin Costumes
you know who would look really good in the new CoT costume pieces? Better than the generic pieces with awesome pieces slapped on top that they had? the Rulu-shin.
think about it.

I'll miss you all.
I like the NEW new CoT better than the old. I did not like the original new CoT better than the old.
Keeping the "faceless, robed menace" appearance intact was a huge part of that. |
Seriously, Ruin mages? DEATH mages, wearing grey and PINK? >_> Ugh...
The new armour and robes have grown on me though. No pun intended

GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

I see it the other way. It's not a monetary way to get around gameplay. It's a Gameplay option to attain something that you would otherwise have to pay for.

The devs may be hesitant to offer a free in-game method of unlocking a costume piece that is 80% identical to a paid one. On the other hand, I as a consumer would feel a bit cheated at paying a mark-up for the those gloves when I already own the Mutant Pack, essentially paying just for the Rularuu eyeball.
|
I think the best solution would be to just make a new, unique pair of gloves and backport those to the Rulu-Shin and use them for the unlock.

I say on possible new Rulu-Shin/Rulaaru-themed costumes: More rotating eyeballs please.
The Rulu-Shin are a nice addition as an enemy group (and I too am hoping that the Shadow Shards will be updated at some point in the future - especially as that Guardian (i.e. Wisp) gives you a pop quiz on certain aspects of Rulaaru lore); Yes their colours clash but they do use the colours of the Natterlings and Overseers (so at least there's a design consistency there).
Players should, imho, have a graphical edge over NPCs (we do already, it's just that coherent enemy groups often look better when their costume is designed to look like something) and rotating eyeballs as a chest piece, a glove piece, a boot piece, and a ragged bird feather wings (with 'peacock'-style rotating eyeballs) piece would look awesome. In the traditional sense of the word.
Rulaaru is creepy and evil and mad. Costumes should reflect that.
I wouldn't mind seeing them release a Rularuu costume pack that includes the Rulu-Shin pieces with some others. Shoulder pads, belts, and boots with eyeballs would be obvious additions. Eyeball head details would be good as well, maybe a visor with an eyeball that covers your eyes, a huge eyeball that covers your entire face from scalp to chin, and maybe even an eyeball in the back of your head.
In addition to eyeball pieces I would like to see some costume pieces from the Aspects of Rularuu added to such a set. I'd like to see the tatto pattern and enlongated head the Aspects have. I'd also like to see a short kilt similar to their floor length kilts.
It is better to ask forgiveness than permission.
In looking more closely at the Rulu-Shin, they do actually use totally different gloves, they are just similar to the Mutant ones. The actual gloves they use are far spikier... sharper-looking.

Weird. My eyes must've been playing tricks on me. I distinctly remember seeing the Mutant gloves somewhere on someone. Concerns lifted. Bring on the Rularuu stuff then.

Rulu-Shin
neither of those are the mutant gloves, but the design philosophy is clearly the same.

Speaking of which, ooh, ooh, I just thought. You know those "costume" powers that just replace your character with a stock NPC model? We totally need one of those that turns you into a Watcher. You don't get any more eyeball-themed or costumey than that.
played through the arc last night. yeah we would really be well served by getting these. since my main is a dragon, i REALLY want those shoulder spikes from the eb (and they do appear to be shoulder details, as he also has a celestial back detail.) chest detail and gloves are cool too, but oh those shoulder spikes with the back parts..drool.

And it looks like they are chest spikes, not shoulder ones.
I would love to have those eyebrows. I've long been wanting a huge eyebrow facial feature.

I want it all! I remember going through the arc and thinking "Okay, what the hell are these things now?!" After finally defeating one, I switched to first-person view to see the Rulu-Shin and immediately thought "WHY THE HELL DON'T WE HAVE THIS?!" Just seeing these pieces kick in my alt-itis and cause new ideas to flow through my mind. From archetypes and powers, to costumes and future gameplay >.< I have a problem lol But I do want these pieces!
I wouldn't mind a skin pattern that had the eyes on it as well.
This is the EB...

EDIT ok, took a little longer, joined some teams. anyhow, he does have back spikes, so does the one enemy holding percy winkly, here is a shot of him close up, with a hold applied sadly since he was camera shy, but you can make it out pretty well in the pic.

Surely I can't be the only one who thinks those minions look godawful.

I'll say it again, if the non-rulu pieces they wore had been replaced with new CoT pieces, They would have been 100% better.

I thinks is some kind of Rularuu armor:
Face detail, gloves, shoulders I think, and chest detail/backpart.
I also think this could be a clue about an upcoming Shadow shard revamp into endgame co-op zone.
