Thinking about it, Chuck did a pretty good job of handling it, but I think that was mostly because the setting allowed for every man and their dog to throw spanners in the works of their relationship even after they got married, which helped keep it interesting.

Well I haven't watched the episode yet...sometimes getting my parents hooked on a TV show with me has its downsides (mom only wants to see it with me and dad at the same time)....which with my night shift schedule, Saturdays 
Although I'll see if I can change that after this season opener...we'll see....didn't read any thoughts/reviews on the episode yet so....*hides eyes from spoilers*

Not bad. Didn't exactly knock my socks off, but pretty good. It would be nice to get some actual closure on the 'Beckett's mom' story this season since that's been dragging on a while, but they'll probably try to drag that out for some time yet.
On the subject of relationships, I'm interested in seeing how the new season of Bones handles the Booth-Bones relationship given that she's pregnant with his kid (apparently owing to her own real life pregnancy). The writers are pretty much forced to deal with it in some capacity, although I fear they'll just go back to the same evasion tricks they've used before to get out of trying to deal with that particular relationship.

It can work, but as you say, it takes good writing. Personally, I've never understood why writers shy away from relationships. It's not like life suddenly gets any easier for the characters just because they are dating/married. The challenges are still there, just different. All they have to do is find the challenges. If anything, relationships create even more possibility for good writing if they are only willing to explore them.

So finally watched the episode tonight. Good episode; and you just knew that Beckett knew/remembered everything...
It will be interesting to see how things go.

Castle could potentially do the same thing with Castle/Beckett. It could open up a lot of interesting areas for the writers to explore. After all, the unrequited love angle does eventually get tiring.
