Quick question about resistance

Your assumption is correct. She would hit for 6,000 points. Consider yourself lucky. Either that wasn't her biggest attack, or the person I saw was lower level relative to Bobcat, but I've seen her hit for 7,500 points.

cheers, i thought that was the case. Im just writing a new guide and wanted to get the correct facts. I wasnt sure if she would get capped at say 3000 dpa but the game would act as if she could really hit for 6000? so when your hard capped the game has scaled her min/max input accordinglly? Thankyou for the answer the clarification is much appreciated.

? I don't quite get this question. Basically, there are three steps to determining damage done:

First, any enhancement, buffs and debuffs modify a base damage amount.

Second, the Purple Patch scales the damage based upon relative level. Note that in an AoE two different level targets can be hit for different amounts of damage based on this.

Third, once hit by that damage you might resist some of it, reducing the amount.

Wait, I though the HP cap for heavy melee types was somewhere in the 3-4k range.

So you're saying this Bobcat swings for roughly twice a tank's hp in damage, pre-mitigation?

A little bit.

That's why on a Tin Mage TF my Dark Defender will happily take the Alpha Strike of every single spawn in the TF except for hers. "OK, Tanker, go get her. I got your Rez all ready!"

Don't forget that -Dam debuffs also reduce her damage output. And she only does that damage if she lands the hit in the first place. Ideally, you let pets take the alpha strikes until you can stack all your debuffs on her. Phantom Army is ideal for this.

Yes. But, given that some tanks will go in there with 90% resistance, 6-7000 points isn't actually a big deal to a tank.

"Some", yes. But what about those poor saps who chose a defense-heavy primary and can't hope to reach those monster resist numbers?

1 - Defense isn't supposed to be hit

2 - That in part why Tough is so popular, it helps.

3 - Note this is TEAM content

4 - Anti-1-shot rule combined with #1 gives some time to recover.

They can be in trouble, because the same effect that buffs her damage also gives her a crazy to-hit bonus (the players seem to refer to it as 'super fortitude').

whats odd though is ive actually used a power analyzer on her before when she did get the buff, and i think it only showed like a 9% dmg buff or something nearly insignificant, i also didnt really see any oddities of her tohit either

so im not really sure what is buffing her

My guess is either a firey embrace or containment-esque setup, or her vengence/super-fortitude changes the actual powers available to her.
