At worst (against a high resistance Mastermind) I have seen Ion kill 2/6 pets and cripple the rest along with the Mastermind himself. Also, some Ion branches will drain endurance and reduce recovery rates. This gives the Mastermind another problem to deal with since he no longer has the endurance to summon back the pets you just killed.

Beating a MM isn't just about having an AT (powersets) its also how you play against them.

A good PvP MM will keep all (most) of its pets in bodyguard mode, this allows them to spread the incoming damage they take over all pets and themself (effectively increasing their HP).

What you want to do is try to get them out of bodyguard mode, you can do this in a couple of ways:

A) Get them to chase you, typically a MM will move faster then their pets so if you get them to chase you far enough (fast enough) they will move out of range of some (all) of their pets and then you can stop, turn around and hit them fast to spike them while their HP is lower.

B) Kill their pets, if they have no pets they are out of bodyguard mode (lol) I don't know if its feasible now with cardiac but it used to be pretty easy to kill pets and run a MM out of end as they have to constantly resummon them. Targeting pets is pretty important too, go for their t3 pet first- It typically has the longest recharge and does the most damage, then kill one (only one) t2 and two of the t1 pets. The goal here is to force the MM to either play with less pets (less bodyguard mode) or re-summon its pets even though they may have some of them still alive. Those pets that are still alive should be damaged and you can just kill them next.

Since your buddy is playing a storm he is going to be trying to debuff your acc and disrupt you with some KB. Make sure your build has enough KB to protect you from tornado (35+ pts of KB protection) and enough acc from aim (or build up), tactics, or accolades (geas or force of nature).

Good luck man.

Get an Elec/SD/Levithan Scrap with tier 4 Ion Judgment. It won't be good at anything in PvP, but it'll put him in his place.

Judgment, SC, L-Rod, and summon water spout for good measure.

Also, you could pretty much bring anything else and draw him. MM's don't kill you, you let them kill you by standing there like an idiot in their debuff patch/mess of pets.

judgement, KB them out of their pets, use an ill/

Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.

You really don't need a specific Scrapper set, so long as it's slotted in some fashion to PvP properly. Judgment and Reactive will certainly help narrow the gap, but even then, all you really need is the Eye of the Magus/Demonic Accolade or the Barrier Destiny power.

The significant buff to your defense will give you enough time to kill all of his pets. Chances are he doesn't have the mental fortitude to continue re-summoning and re-buffing. Focus on his pets and eventually you're going to hit so hard through bodyguard he won't know what happened.
