Game slows down randomly

I've been having an issue for a while where the game will suddenly drop down to single-digit fps, stay that way for a couple of minutes, then go back to normal. It doesn't seem to be connected to what I'm doing in-game...it happens whether I'm in the middle of a Mothership raid or just standing around by myself inside a mission. Keeping my graphics settings low makes the slowdowns less severe, but still very noticeable. My Netgraph stays green throughout, so I'm assuming it's something to do with my machine, rather than my internet connection.

This would happen to me when my Mcafee virusprotection would decide that my CoH mission was the perfect time to download and install updates lol . Make sure nothing like that is popping up in the background hogging your CPU.

If it is some program running an update, it must be doing it all day long...this slowdown happens over and over again, no matter what time of day I'm playing.
