Hyperstrike: Wanted didn't say what country he's in, so its not clear newegg will deliver there.

Granted, however, going by Wanted_NA, I've at least given him a decent starting point.

So, to summarize, best use of money on your current machine, a core 2 CPU and new Hard Drive. The MB can take a better processor. More RAM would be a mistake. After that, we would need to know more about case and PSU for video card suggestions.

New machine of course would have lots of options but that would be a different topic.

V: Brute 50, Corruptor 50, MM 50, Dominator 50, Stalker 50, AW 50, AS 50
Top 4: Controller, Brute, Scrapper, Corruptor
Bottom 4: (Peacebringer) way below everything else, Mastermind, Dominator, Blaster

I'd ask for one last data point. As initial load-in of the game on a system that isn't currently maxing it's memory is of course going to be faster.

Try playing for an hour, and zoning several times during that play.

At the end of the hour, zone again and see how fast your zone times are when the client is, ostensibly, consuming maximum RAM.

That's the last line of thinking I was going at. But adding more RAM as well from reading all the posts here.
I'm from Jordan, BTW (it's in the Middle East). I tried looking at new egg see if it delivers to my country but for some reason the site keeps crashing my browsers whenever I get to "check out" phase and the delivery location selection. But from a quick look at their FAQ:

Quote:
Does Newegg.com ship internationally?
Newegg.com does not currently ship internationally; we only deliver to locations within the United States and to Puerto Rico.
I asked around, C2Q CPU, as far as I can tell, aren't available in the market around here. So I'm gonna look around on different websites see if there are any possibilities. Or just go with a C2D Processor. I have absolutely no idea what kind of PSU I have. I will have to take it out and look at its specifics.

Hyperstrike, thanks a lot for all your suggestions. Especially the new machine ones. Will definitely keep those in mind as apparently my system is indeed not exactly worth upgrading all that much. So will look into buying a new one a few months from now when I have the money for it saved.

Hyperstrike: Well, that would mean playing on that old machine. Ripping out memory again (as I put it back in). I suppose for the CoX community I'll do that. Probably during the week as I only have so much time to play. Heh, I wonder how well it handles BAF/Lambda.

Wanted: Thanks for keeping us informed with your plans.

1: I wouldn't worry a bunch about not being able to get a C2Q. While the game is one place where the Quad can help (since it can take over two cores entirely for itself), the performance difference isn't all that much greater than a C2D.

2: Sorry I don't have any electronic vendors specifically in your neck of the woods (so to speak).

TigerDirect does international shipping, though due to various export laws, they may not be able to sell you certain things. Also, they'd want the money via wire transfer (and shipping is probably outrageous). Still you might want to give them a call to get pricing information if you're having problems getting stuff locally.

I am freakin' ASTONISHED.

So today, I went shopping for parts once again. And I found a great deal (I think, at least) on a brand new computer (we have several shops around here that build custom computers and sell them). It's nothing ground breaking. but from what I'm using right now, I figure it's a massive improvement from what I currently have. It comes with an I3-2100 processor (3.1 GHz/ 3 MB cash), 1 TB HDD, and 4 GB DD3 RAM (and all other components of course. And for my embarrasement I forgot what type of MB is on it x) for about $470. You guys think it's good? I can jump to in I5-2100 processor for an additional $125, but in all honesty I am most probably sticking with the I3.

Now here's is my dilemma. I need to choose a graphics card to go with it. Right now the selection they have is: nVidia GT210, G-FORCE9500, and G-FORCE GT9800. Of course, I pestered the guy there long enough to make him wait for me to make sure what kind I want, and that if I wanted something they don't have, they would order it and install it for me as well. So...can you guys help me choose a Graphics card to go with it? The PSU isn't a problem, can be freely changed to match whatever I need.

I'm super excited right now. But I need the expert advice from you guys. I know I"ve been asking a lot, please bare with me a little longer :P

Once again, all help/advice very much appreciated

I just want to add this. I've dealt with these problems and have opened tickets on them and I'm in the US.

I see your system specs but what is your connection to the internet like?

When I had this problem, I first upgraded my memory. This stopped the client crashes but the loads were still slow. I upgraded again from a dualcore to quadcore with noticeable differences in load time. I went from loading last to loading first.

But while I think these things played a factor I believe bandwidth is the key in this. I've heard some say that 10KB is all this game needs but I just don't believe it but I can't find anyone knowledgeable enough to dissect this issue.

Do you have access to a 3G/4G wireless card? I use my VerizonWireless Card to troubleshoot CoH problems when I'm on the road. I don't think you need a new computer just more bandwidth.

It's a 1MB ADSL connection, and my computer is hooked directly to the modem. It's a sucky connection I know, but sadly it's the highest available in my area. And Wireless connections aren't available around here for higher connections either =/
(Funny part is, I've just checked again earlier today. Still can't upgarde my connection due to ISP's s***** servers and router nodes and stuff).

Awesome, so you recommend the GT9800? (Also keeping in mind that I can also order something that's not in the list. Will take a few days longer to get but if it's worth it, I'll take it).

ADSL Stand for Assymetric Digital Subscriber Line. That's means the download is greater than the upload speed. What is the upload speed?

1MB seems ok though.

The only other advice, I'd give is to turn off ultramode and reduce the settings too. This moves the game faster too. Honestly, I think your dealing with several issues. 1. Latency - No solution 2. Hardware issues and 3. Higher quality Telecom Line. Can you get another provider?

My other suggestion might be to find a VPN to ride to the US. This will protect your sessions from the WW others . I might be able to help you with this solution later in the year. I have Fios 150MB FTTH and it is super fast. Verizon here has the fastest connections to your region too.

What server do you play on?

Confirm the upload and download speeds on your dsl line. Carriers don't alway tell you the truth. or speed test it here. http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ and select Dallas, TX

Other providers all share the same problem as well. The infrastructure around here is what needs working. And they're mostly focusing on providing "new" areas with internet service rather than upgrading existing ones currently (for the past 2 years....-.-)

Freedom, and recently, Union.

According to that link, download speed is 0.88 MB/Sec and upload is 0.17. But I have my browser, Skype, and Xfire online ATM.

About the bolded part...we don't have Verizon in the Middle East, at least not in my country. I think you might be mistaking my country (Jordan) to the Jordan suburb in the US (forgot which states is that though).

Carriers are not all the same. Cable Internet is different from Telecom Internet. I play on Freedom and Union too exclusively. .17 concerns me.

No, I didn't misunderstand you. Verizon/Worldcom/MCI is the backbone of the internet. Verizon may not be in your local country but to get to outside of Jordan I'm sure they connect to AT&T or Verizon or Global Crossing.

Do you have a starbucks in your country? If you do then AT&T is there.

I hope not, the 9800 GT is a 3 year old card from Nvidia.

That card is the bare minium for ultra mode. There are much better cards with less power demands than that.

3.1GHz i3-2100 is a Sandy Bridge (also called the 2nd generation i series) dual core with hyper threading that crushes all the older Core 2 dual cores in the dust and still beat the cheaper Core 2 quad cores (up to the Q9400). Now compared to a Pentium 4, well have you ever seen the black and white short film Bambi Meets Godzilla?

As far as Intel knows, there isn't an i5-2100. The lowest numbered desktop 2nd gen i5 (all i5-2x00s are true quad cores, no hyper threading) is the i5-2300. The additional shared L3 cache in the i5-2x00 (6MB Vs 3MB in the i3-2x00) does help gaming while the extra cores really won't help CoH all that much. The i5-2300 is 2.8GHz, the i5-2400 is 3.1GHz and the i5-2500 is 3.3GHz. Intel's tray prices in USD are $117 for the i3-2100, $177 for the i5-2300, $184 for the i5-2400 and $205 for the i5-2500. You can use these prices to get an idea how much the upgrade, assuming they also didn't swap motherboards, should be.

I would rather see a better selection of video cards but out of those three, the 9800GT is the best of them.

Of the three, it's the best.

However, look at this list. Start at the top and work your way down until you find the one that has the best pricing and availability. Skip over the ones that are dual cards.

My ISP is Orange (the French one merged with JTC). And that page is a spoof. There is no actual cable service available in Jordan, sadly.

Thanks for the card suggestions, guys. I will take a look at that list, Zombie Man.
