Power customisation used well
I once had a Earth/Earth Dom called Moh's Master- I picked the Crystal look for all his powers and colored each one a different gem. The Hold and the Hammers were Diamond-white, Stone Cages Ruby-red, Stonefist was a Sapphire, Salt Crystals were Topaz, etc.
I also have a Rad/Fire blaster called Captain Cherenkov. All his powers are colored deep blue to match the radiation given off inside nuclear reactors.

Some fun customizations I've found: Fire/Ice dominator, everything colored a blue-white. Strangely enough, the cold, bright blue make her fire effects cause her to look colder than the /ice does. Her story is that she's from an ice race that bonded with a fallen star, so she manipulates celestial energy. The combination of an ice blue hotfeet with chilling embrace running is visually impacting.
Along the same lines as posted, a green/grey/brown/blackish palette for my steam-punkish dark/dark corruptor, Smognaut. He avoids any skull-themed powers, sticking to the smoky powers. As such, he runs around masked in pure polution, spewing greyish, tannish green puffs of smoke at his foes.
Another fire control switch is my radioactive hazard character, Toxicore. The fire is all a bright, light green palette of the 'dark' customization on fire control. The visual result is a smoky opaque green clouded energy result, the same goes for his secondary, /rad. The combined smoky greenishness with hotfeet/chocking cloud simulated that's he's leaking toxic radiation pretty well.
I've done a few power customizations myself.
Day 1 of Issue 16 I created Dust Walker, a Storm Summoning/Dark Blast Defender whose powers were colored to sand. I've since then seen many other sand characters running around but that comes as no real surprise. (Though it did come as a surprise when a couple of them mentioned to me that Dust Walker was actually their inspiration. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside ^.^)
I also more recently made a character named Water Skimmer. Gravity Control/Psionic Assault Dominator with powers colored as, obviously, water. The addition of the alternate animations for blast powers helps to prevent a 'shooting water from the forehead' animation with Psi assault, and the Grav powers work perfectly especially Lift.
Spirit Kat is a Kin/Dark Stalker with her powers colored gray. Her powers are air manipulation as well as the ability to literally dissolve her body into thin air (Hide) The Dark Armor powers help to give the illusion that she's only partially dissolved herself.

Any San Francisco residents probably remember the sad tale of the Cosco Busan. I made a character based on her- she's basically an avatar of the vessel. She uses DA as her secondary, colored to resemble water.
She's pretty much figured out how to use water, and its spiritual essence to protect and heal herself, having been blessed by the ocean spirits after she declared her intention to atone for the accident she was involved in, by becoming a hero, seeking to punish the truly guilty.
That character's gonna have a real Hate-On for Crey and the Devouring Earth once she's leveled up some more.

Most I've done is to make a ninja MM look like a genin ninja (named genin 1, genin 2, and genin 3). The MM's name was Genin 0.

I've seen some really pretty ones out there, but as for use as something... Dark rad blast coloured dark red/original pain domination. So much blood. Such lovely blood. Irradiate and Nullify Pain in particular.
Regen also, as mentioned previously, look nice in blood tones.
Also dark elec armor, can look rather wormy. Like worms crawling all over.
Kin powers (both support set and melee) look swell with watery colours. SR is another nice one in watery ones.
Purple empathy fits default psi powers nicely.
Fire control's many rings of fire look neat in golden tones, like some small suns scattered on the ground.
Dark/ice tanker that i recolored light blue and green/blue to be all about snow and ice.
Trap/Dark defender whose powers are blue/red so as to appear like beacons on a Police Car.
Dark Miasma in Pink always makes me giggle.
Pink and Fluffy. great combo.
Miss Skinless my Dark Melee/Regen scrapper had her powers recolored red for a nicely bloody look. Her blood spurts from her body constantly (Integration), and she can direct it as a weapon. She can even drive her blood into others and drain out their own (Siphon Life). And Touch of Fear isn't her drawing on the Netherworld - it's the effect of a screaming insane woman with no skin coming after you! "Share my painpainPAIN!!"
Her backstory is that she was dumped into a vat of corrosive mutagens that gave her super-healing that "heals" her body to the state she was in when she got her powers - namely, with her skin burned off. All her exposed flesh is red colored "bio-organic", with the rest of her outfit white with lots of "wraps" parts, for a bandaged effect.
