People are supposed to be able to join without an alpha boost. One thing to check is have Player X check their LFG tab. The trial crash bug sometimes results in the game thinking the palyer is already in a trial and therefore won't let them join a new one.

So this morning I was in a group with 12 or so others trying to do the BAF. The leader couldn't start it so I suggested passing the league star just in case it was some weird bug with just him.
He said he already did that but passed it to me anyways. Of course I couldn't start it either but I got the message, "player x can't join the queue."
After a few attempts we noticed he didn't have any Alpha slotted; I thought the Trials allowed the iXP to go towards the Alpha slot? If that's the case I would have assumed that someone without the alpha unlocked and/or just not slotted should be able to join....
Did this happen to anyone else or is this WAI (Working As Intended)?
