/ignore_spammer NCSoft

For the longest time, I had the same issue as many other players: No matter how much I verified my contact information, and checked my spam filter(s), I never got any of the NCSoft/City of Heroes newsletters.

Then, around Issue 17, the problem was fixed; I was suddenly receiving the newsletters as they came out.

Shortly afterwards, I started getting duplicates of the newsletter, usually 2-3 copies, spread out 15-30 minutes apart. After receiving FIVE copies of the last newsletter (not today's, but the last one before it), I got fed up, and hit the "Unsubscribe" button. I do want to get the newsletter, but I don't need it in triplicate (or more!).

Today, I got two more copies, even though I got the confirmation email saying that I was unsubscribed.

How do I make it stop, or better yet, how do I make all but one of them stop?

Automated mailing lists are often only updated once a week or every couple days. They push the list of emails to be sent, which the mailer goes through (and if there are enough emails to be sent, it goes through in blocks of emails). I'm pretty sure the unsubscribe button says "please give X timeframe" at the end, but I'm not positive.

Do you have any inactive accounts? Trial accounts, etc? Sadly, it seems they send out notifications for every CoH account in your master account list, instead of one notif per master account.

The timeframe for the unsubscribe was 24 hours. It's been weeks since I unsubscribed.

I do have inactive accounts. I used to run two accounts, and when the prestige grant happened a couple years ago, I created two trials to pad my SG. Now, I only maintain one account. I don't plan on paying for them just so I can log in and unsub a newsletter, and I don't know any other way to access that option.

Unsubbing the notifs is through the master account, not per-account. However, the newsletters themselves seem to be sent one for every account on file. It changed at some point. It's really annoying.

I should be getting two newsletters (two master accounts). I'm getting FIVE! (one true account per master account, two abandoned trial accounts, one erroneously created account that was canceled [as in "banned"] and rolled into my main account, way back when the system was confusing on how to "add" a game versus "upgrade").

Secondly, I ran into this myself once I reactivated my main account. I too did the i12 padding w/ numerous temp accounts and ended up with LOTS of spam until I figured out that all I needed to do was to relog into the unused accounts and disable the newsletters. Now I only get the one.
