/inv ???
DB/Inv is my favorite character since years, but I can't honestly say it does anything that another primary couldn't do, if we're talking highend performance ; esp. on a brute where BF gives less damage (both in terms of actual buffage and relatively because of lower base damage).
FM for example is superior on almost every point except tohit. Good ST chain at low recharge? Check. Good AOE damage? Check. Good DPE efficiency? Check.
Add to that a rarely resisted damage type, and no weapons (no redraw). It lacks the ability to slot -res procs (so, slightly less useful against big targets on teams) but does about the same ST damage and FSC is much easier to use than any DB AoE.
If you really like KM/Inv, another thing you might consider is that I20 isn't so far away. It's a bit of a long shot, but with the Judgement slot giving us an AoE, who knows? It might give primarily ST builds more appeal.
Anyway, now that I got my "wah wah DB isn't good buff meee" out of the way...
I think you should skip Assault, on a Brute. 10% damage isn't worth the endurance drain when you're hovering around 400% damage on a regular basis.
You don't have Aid Self so I'd consider slotting Health more.
If you're putting a resistance IO in temp invul, you may as well add the mez resistance/psi res unique from Aegis in there, it only lowers your S/L res by 0.6%. I admit I don't see many people doing that except me, but I find the mez resistance rather useful in highend content ; lowers the time Reichsman stuns you, lowers the opportunity for mezzes to stack when you're tanking heavy mezzers without support (carnival especially, a lone illusionist mistress could sometimes mez me thanks to her lieutenant summons before I slotted the IO, since I did it hasn't happened yet), so I always try to slot it when it doesn't hurt the build as a whole.

It's too bad that Hasten isn't fully saturated with Recharge. I'd suggest going with the Recharge/Heal to get that Hasten and Dull Pain up sooner and to give a little boost to Regeneration.

Samuel_Tow: Your avatar is... I think I like it

I was sort of ruling out Fire Melee from having "good AOE" basd on FSC only being up with a base recharge of 20secs (like Foot Stomp). My guess is, in a build, it would have about 6-9 secs of recharge -- for example, on my 50 Shield/FM tank it has 7.7 secs -- and what do you do for AOE while you're waiting? (I think I've read that FM is better on Brutes than Scraps as Fury buffs the DOT ticks?).
By comparison a set like War Mace has pretty good chainable AOE between Crowd Control, Whirling Mace, and Shatter (wide cone, typically hits 3+). On my WM/SR brute, I can basically chain those 3 attacks. My concern with WM is endo usage and having a high DPS single-target chain achievable at reasonable recharge (I think it's Clobber-Shatter-Pulverize-Bash but not sure at DPS).
I'm not set on DB -- it just seemed to offer a reasonable mix of AOE and s-t damage (what with Sweeping in every BF->AV chain, and having Typhoon and 10K for huge groups). I had a 50 DB/WP scrap that I'm shelving, actually.
Hence my indecision. Open to further thoughts!!
I'm not a believer of chaining AoEs exclusively outside of AE farms (and even there I don't do it, I use my big hitters on bosses every now and then ; pure AoE really only made sense to me at the time when we could make all boss farms at full exp). In regular play a group is a bunch of minions, some lieuts and 1 or 2 bosses. If you attack the boss(es) with your ST chain while using FSC as soon as it's up, you still end up killing the boss last more often than not - unless some minions/lieuts are in ranged mode and staying away, in which case having more AoE power wouldn't have helped either.
Per Nihili's suggestion, here's a Brute INV with Fire Melee. Again, based off BassAckward's builds. I got it the closest I could to soft-capped to all ... it's at 44.48% to everything I think. It's probably crazy expensive.
Also I kept trying to switch to Gloom/Dark Oblit but losing Char really screws up E/N def.
I think this build can run Incin - Crem - Fire Sword - GFS, which Werner has said is just under the top chain DPS with better +rchg requirements and better endo use.

Here is a quick rebuild based on Nihili saying you can get away with S/L soft-capped and E/N/F/C at 33%+ (so one small purp will softcap).
I'm not sure how that works out in practice with no-inspiration things like RWZ Challenge but maybe it's OK.
It lets the build get by with far less expensive gear, and it allows the slotting of more purples and damage procs.
Not sure about the 6-slot Numi in DP ... does the +recov/regen only work when you activate Dull Pain? 6-slot numi looked like a way to get some extra E/N def was all. Have to mess around with slots otherwise.
Also pushed this version over 70% S/L RES w/o unstop.
Hmnnnnn...........

So Bass's crazy DM/INV build -- which is flat out awesome -- has had me thinking a lot lately about making an /INV toon. Something about being soft-capped to all positions with 70%+ S/L resist is quite appealing in a Scrapper. Same for a Brute which potentially pushes 85% resist.
What I can't figure out is, if /INV is going to let you stand among hordes of enemies and thrive, what's the best primary -- either Scrapper or Brute -- to pair with it. I keep thinking about KM but then get bummed out at the AOE potential with just Burst. I think about SS but have been there, done that. Stone Melee has meh AOE. Mace is good AOE & ST and smashing. Elec has good AOE but lame single target. Already have a Kat.
So I think I'm toying with the idea of DB/INV as providing the best mix of single-target (presumably BF->AV) and AOE (with Sweeping, Typhoon, 10K). What do folks think? I know BF benefits scrappers more, but the idea of higher resists on a brute is appealing. On the other hand, I mark down DB for being slashing which is resisted a lot late game.
Still, I can't get the coolness factor of KM/INV out of my head.
