Saturday Night TF With Pilgrim, Apex at 7 PM Central, 8 PM Eastern

Grey Pilgrim

Hey all. Want to at least try one of the new TFs tonight, and we can try to get this done before the Hami Raid for those that wanted to join it (I'll try to get on earlier than 7 Central if I can). So, shooting for the Apex TF and want to have a good crew going before we log in. You must have your Alpha slot slotted for this Task Force. I'll be running with Grey Pilgrim, so a good mix of damage and support would be good.

Think I have one person already lined up, so shout out if you want one of the remaining spots.

1. Grey Pilgrim (tank)
2. Battle Priest

Well, that didn't go so well. First mission wasn't too bad and was rather epic, but that second one is... ridiculous. I'll get it down, but those swords do some ridiculous damage and defense debuff, and the nanite bombs or whatever are even worse. They're constantly firing, and I can't even find consistency to them. They seem to be on a timer and go off at the same time: not whether you have been standing still for awhile. Even so, however, I had bombs start in on me when I was running or jumping through the air, which did not seem consistent.

We didn't pass it for a few reasons. Didn't help that we fell apart when Battle Maiden fell apart, then we had a team member be quite unhelpful, not work with the team, and then quit. We actually made some progress afterward, but not enough. A key to this mission seems to be an ability to joust. It's easier to do with ranged damage, but Scrappers, Brutes, and Tanks can do it as well. It's a lot to keep track of with all the bombs dropping, but it should be doable. Better luck next time, I guess.

I hate to think how useless mastermind pets would be on that fight, never mind controller pets. And then of course the screw that melee people take... My tank, though, seemed to have a lot better time on that fight; could just have been a hit points issue.

Really hope they adjust the nanite swarm part of the encounter. Just not finding it reasonable.

I got it down for the last bit we were trying, and I think some of us did, but part of the problem was people just were not moving well, and our ranged damage died far too much. Before we had most of the swords and warriors under control, that made sense, but after... I'm not sure what the problem was. Nanite swarms are certainly annoying (and I would say a bit over the top), but they shouldn't have been neutering our damage output so much.

I would highly recommend anyone get used to jousting and not attacking in a long chain: we're probably going to see more encounters that require out of the box thinking, rather than a standard DPS slog (and that's not necessarily a bad thing, it's not entirely WoWish, as one teammate kept complaining).

After the initial issues after she came back, I did not have very many nanite swarms go after me, and I was able to time my taunts, damage (melee and ranged), as well as movement so I was hitting her a fair amount and not touching any swarms.

There is a decent guide to this TF in the guide section right now (by a fellow Victoryite!) that I would recommend reading. Pretty much covers all our issues: power patches that look like the nanite swarms should be recolored, extra tanks or melee should remove most of the swords and warriors, and how to not get caught in a swarm as you bring the hurt on Battle Maiden. If we had been able to adjust to that all as a group, we could have done it. I also forgot to mention using envenomed daggers: I noticed that we started adding on damage when I managed to use mine and we had more than just me attacking her.
