Some SS/Fire questions.

So I've been dinking around in Mid's for two days with this build, and I just cannot seem to be able to boost myself above 35% global recharge. Now I'm no build genius, but I can't for the life of me find sets that'll up my recharge beyond the 5 bonus limit. I have Hasten, I have the sets that offer +Rech, but I do not have the money for purples. I have a Force Feedback Chance For +Rech in Foot Stomp, 4 sets of Crushing Impact, Doctored Wounds, everything I can.

Can anyone give me some insight on how to get some lovely lovely Recharge without breaking the bank?

My guides:Dark Melee/Dark Armor/Soul Mastery, Illusion Control/Kinetics/Primal Forces Mastery, Electric Armor
"Dark Armor is a complete waste as a tanking set."

Could you show us what you have?

Decimation/Posi blast 6.25% each for your TAOE and Ranged Epic attacks
Can you afford LoTGs? I'm assuming you at least have Combat jumping so throw one in there.

Took a look at my own SS/FA I'm rocking only 52.5% Global with two purples sets.

Well that might be one of my first problems, so I'll Mid's one of those babies in. I might also take Hover/Maneuvers just to drop another LotG in, instead of Temperature Protection.

I'm going to post my build when I have my first break. I'm currently at work. :P

Thanks for the quick reply, btw.

No problem, SS/Fire is one of the toons I've spent hundreds of hours post 50 playing so I'm fairly confident in my advice for them

I didn't worry about DEF, as I think in one of your previous posts you mentioned you don't often build for it.

This isn't a complete build by any means, but just something to give you some slotting ideas for rech.

I don't know what your intent for this build is, but with judicious use of insps my SOs only SS/FA can solo 0x8 against a fair number of enemies.

You could easily swap out soul for mu with the exact same slotting, I chose soul as I was originally going to toss darkest night in there and then hit 5% rech cap elsewhere.

In my current build i have a full set of kinetic crash in punch. Keep in mind that my ss/fire is strictly a farmer. I personaly would not put the set in knockout blow but if the build is just for farming i suppose it doesn't really matter where you put it.

Here's my SS/FA I've been running for years. I have no intention of changing anything currently so view at your own risk.
Also; Titan Sentinel is freaking awesome

Any particular reason? I ran the numbers in Mid's... K-Crash gives a pretty nice Acc/Dam addition, and I can't help but think it'd be wicked awesome to boost the knockup of KO-Blow. Nothing says "die" like uppercutting a guy so hard he faceplants the ceiling.

Wow. Have I really been running with CJ empty? How silly.

I may be wrong about this but i think the Kinetic crash set will turn the knock up into knock back. I have never tried it so i do not know for sure.
Like i said though....it really doesnt matter much if your building a farmer....you won't be using the St attacks too much anyways.

Just tested it with 4 pieces of K-Crash. It does not turn KU into KB, it just sends my enemies waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay higher.

Cool. Good to know.

Another reason to slot a melee attack with KC is the 3 points of knockback protection. With a a BOTZ in superjump and a set of KC in punch...i never get knocked down/back.

That's also a good point. I'm using Acrobatics though. I'm wondering if two full sets of K-Crash (one in KO Blow and another in Haymaker/Punch) would be a good thing. 6 points of KB protection, 15% recharge, and the option to remove Acrobatics if I felt like it. Hmm...

I'm going to act dumb and ask, why not use -KB single IOs?

I would. But if I can get away with slotting two sets of K-Crash then I'm gonna go with that over using one slot in CJ (just a LotG) rather than two (one for a Karma and one for a LotG). I'd also like one of my quicker melee attacks to maybe do actual knockback, especially if I'm up against a nasty baddie that needs knocking away, like a Super Stunner or a Sapper or something similar.

they're seperate. you can stack 5 lotg 7.5%s in addition to five other 7.5% +rech bonuses.

Oh yeah Nal, they stack. Take a close look at my recharge monster, got LOTGs muled everywhere, and some other 7.5%s as well

Correct.

You can slot slot 5 LotG and 5 other 7,5% boni and still get the bonus.

I know that slotting for defense is certainly not the most popular option for /fire builds, but I've found it to be quite useful on mine. Most people that farm with these builds seem to stick to farms where the enemies only have fire damage, which is totally understandable but I tend to get bored fighting the same enemies over and over again. I've got about 40% s/l def on my SS/fire and it is pretty survivable in most cases. Did the Eden trial last night and when our tank died I had no problem taking his place, so I guess it's really a matter of preference which route you pick.

This is my spec I will be going to after i19 is released. For fun and games I'm really considering 3 slotting Peroxisome Exposure into ROTP for a 30 second stun and oodles of damage.

Considering that or adding some slots to attacks. The thing is... they kind of take care of themselves already anyway. Rage adds pretty a pretty hefty bonus with +tohit and the base damage of Brutes (especially SS) is feable so having 85% instead of 95% damage enhancement is neither here nor there when so much is coming out of Rage + Fury. YMMV of course.

I'm presently considering ways to lose ~2% s/l defence but up recharge in some fashion but it seems pretty irrelevant especially when diminishing returns are considered with the Alpha Slot (Spiritual... Recharge + Healing thank you very much!).
