Going Rogue - Issue 19

Does anyone know if I need to purchase the Going Rogue expansion before I'm able to play the new Issue 19?

Incarnate stuff yes, the rest, nope. By and large, every update to CoH/V is free. Incarnate stuff is part of the expansion, so you need GR for that.

You'll need GR to enjoy the Incarnate ability and the arcs associated with it. Other items won't be gated like the inherent fitness, although I doubt you'll be able to access Praetoria with your existing toons.

Yeah, that's another part of I19 that requires going Rogue. No incarnate system, no Praetoria access.

Everything else is available.

Little more specific:

Won't be able to access:

The Alpha Slot

Praetoria Zone Events

Primal Earth Characters Can Enter Praetoria

More Morality Missions

Two New Task Forces (nb I believe these require the alpha slot on members to start... not 100% sure)

You will be able to access:

More Tip Missions

New Auras
Fitness Pool powers now Inherent

Alternate Power Animations

New Badges

Merged Monorails and Ferries

Mission Architect Enhancements

Yeah, between that and the list up above I clearly wasn't thinking this through. Thanks for the save!

Don't forget the new arcs: Heroes in Paragon get an arc dealing with the teleport system, villains in the isles get an arc about the leviathan.

You should be able to run them without the Alpha slot...but it will probably be INSANELY difficult without it.

Hmmm, they weren't in the I19 list on the Main site...

I thought I saw something on the beta forums about needing the slot unlocked before you could start it so wasn't sure. Would be worth testing.

I believe you have to have the Alpha slot unlocked to start the TF, but not join the TF. Just like a Vigilante/Rogue can join any SF/TF, but cannot start them. That being said, a character without the Alpha slot unlocked (or with nothing slotted in it) will fight at basically 5% effectiveness for the entire TF (the enemies treat you as if you're level 46, while they're level 54). Yay for the Purple Patch!

Ahh... that makes sense. Any idea about someone without GR?

In short, everything directly connected with GR ( which includes the Incarnate stuff ) requires GR.

Not how I was informed it worked. You HAD to have the alpha slot unlocked to run it, it's if you don't have anything slotted in it that you are debuffed 4 levels.

Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.

The arcs have their own badges, and the wording was a bit weird for the announcement, but it's here:

  • Heroes should see Roy Cooling in Talos Island to find out why the public is up in arms over the information that medi-porters are being upgraded for heroes, while there are no plans to release them to the public
  • Villains should see Vincent Ross in Sharkhead Isle to find out more about the “sleeping beast” the Legacy Chain is investigating.

Yeah, this is what I had heard. Will have to check on that.
