Hey all, I'd like some help please with my DM/DA scrapper. He is my main and my badge collector so I want him as survivable as possible for TF's and such. I'm not the best at building with IO's, but so far this is the best I've come up with. I'd like to get him softcapped if possible, but also get as much recharge as I can. I figure the recharge would be the next best stat to go for to improve survivability. If I'm wrong and should be going for something else like HP please let me know. Any tips or advice would be welcome, I'm not married to any one power or anything and I'm not concerned with cost, so I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks.

Personally, I love what a layer of defense can do for Dark Armor. It turns an already sturdy set into an absolute beast. If survivability is what you're after then it's a great choice, as is a secondary focus in recharge.

If I may suggest a few things...

- Consider going for Smashing/Lethal defense over Melee defense. S/L will cover the majority of attacks in the PvE game, and provides a wider safety net than melee alone. You may be in melee smashing faces as a Scrapper, but those pesky runners and Marksmen are going to be using their rifles and whatnot to take potshots at you. If you do decide to go for S/L defense then Kinetic Combats are a great source of it. If you slot a power with them as a set mule and don't plan to actually use that attack then you can save some money by swapping out one of the most expensive pieces with the relatively cheap Chance for Knockdown proc from the set.

- Acrobatics is certainly not a bad power, but it can easily be replaced by adding in a KB Protection IO or two. In fact, 2 of them will provide slightly better protection than unslotted Acrobatics. If you can't spare a slot in your current build, consider replacing the jump IO in Super Jump with a Blessing of the Zephyr proc.

- Dark Regeneration is a large source of endurance drain on a build, but adding a Theft of Essence: Chance for +End proc to it can patch that problem. I've had times where, in a large enough group of enemies, Dark Regeneration actually ended up refilling my blue bar thanks to this enhancement. It's a godsend and I highly recommend working one in.

- If you want to kick your survivability up another notch, consider going for the Soul Mastery patron pool. It provides the Shadow Meld power, which is like Build Up for defense. The animation is 3 seconds long, but the defense boost is substantial, to say the least. It's also another spot to slot a Luck of the Gambler: +Recharge.

Here's a build using the above suggestions. I tried to keep it close to the one you originally posted while gunning for Defense and Recharge. Highlights include soft-capped S/L defense, 145% recharge, and 75% global accuracy. Hopefully it can provide some food for thought.

Consider a build that aims for 32.5% defense in Melee, Ranged, and AoE. This will allow you to soft cap against all attacks with a small purple when you need to survive tougher situations.

Sorry, over looked this thread before now. Hopefully you'll still find my comments helpful.

IMHO, the endurance on your build is completely unmanageable. I've found that as a general rule, you must have a net recovery of 2 EPS to sustain any DM/DA game play. Look at your End Drain and subtract it from your recovery. In your builds that's 2.23 - 1.45 = 0.78 EPS. I'd be surprised if you could finish a single spawn without gobbing down several CaBs and you'd likely need to rest after each spawn. Your build should (and this is relative to your playstyle) allow you to move from spawn to spawn without needing to rest.

Not sure if this was an error or you did it intentionally, but I don't see any slots in Health or Stamina. You really need a slot or two in both powers to help with your endurance management. 3 slotted Rest is not generally recommended.

The build R-Tech posted is a considerable improvement. Not how I would go about it, but should be very effective. R-Tech has basically sacrificed a little bit of Energy/N. Energy defense in exchange for Smash/Lethal. IMHO Energy defense is of greater concern to Dark Armor than Smash/Lethal. R-Tech's build also skips Shadow Maul and CoF, which I refuse to do on my DM/DA builds.

I'm still undecided as to how I'll be changing my build for I19, but here's one version I'm considering. Might give you some ideas.
