Not everything you asked for, but some things to smooth out searching nonetheless.

I agree it would be nice to be able to search specifically for team leaders or "free agents" to make the list a little smaller to sort through, but you can still tell who they are from the new color codes:
Violet: They're the leader of a team with less than 8 people on it
Pale blue: They're not on a team and you can invite them
As for the list truncating to 50.. if you hit the search button again, it'll show the next 50, then next 50, then next 50, until you get to the end of the list and see less than 50, then it restarts again. That's certainly better than only seeing a random 50 from the list like it did before.
Not to mention the Send Tell to Team Leader function.

And don't forget the LFG (menu->LFG) window. Though it's currently non-functional, it'll probably be working soon.

As far as I can remember, I and numerous others have requested that the Search mechanism be altered thusly:
1) A "Looking for More" flag if you are leading a team
2) Not showing teamed players whom we could not invite, anyway
3) Un-truncating the list, so you get the entire list of available players on the server.
Instead, the list is now truncated to only show 50 total, teamed players are still shown, leaders are now shown, but who knows if they are LFM...
Is there any hope from the NY show that the devs will make Search useful the way it has been suggested for years??
