What is the minimum DirectX version you can use with Ultra-mode?

I have a friend who wanted to play CoH during reactivation weekend but his graphics card burnt out, forcing him to use his old DirectX 9 card in the meantime.

I wanted to know if any of the ultra-mode graphics will work on DirectX 9 or whether they'd just all be locked out.

COH uses OpenGL. DirectX has no bearing on it.

Ah, thank you all for your responses. I looked all over the forums but only got results on 'Ultra mode starts with blahblah card' but I didn't see anything about things like DirectX or OpenGL.

OK, a card that supports DirectX 10 class of hardware is a starting point. nVidia 8xxx, 9xxx, 2xx and 4xx series. ATI HD 2xxx - HD 5xxx series.

However that said there is a world of difference between an 8400GT and a GT 450 from nVidia. Back before Ultra Mode came out the word from the devs were the nVidia 9800GT level of performance was their low end choice for UM settings on their minimum.

Edit: Basically any of the cards in the top 8 tiers listed here. Of course closer to the top, the better the performance. For the most part, they require a reasonably sized power supply, unlike those found in most store bought PCs.
