Them being in the same faction is what causes those Seers to not be counted for the Blindsided badge. Kinda pissed me off when I got a mission and entered and it was "full" of Seers, and then I checked my badge progress and it hadn't moved at all.

Overall, I haven't had as much trouble with the IDF as this thread would lead one to believe though. They are a good, varied group that poses a threat, but nothing too horrible. Then again, that might be because I've been fighting them as a duo with my FF/Energy Defender and a Fire/WP Scrapper (neither of which is IO'd out yet btw).

The only mob that really annoys me in the whole group is the Heavy Troopers, since their missiles effectively blind me by taking up the whole screen with their effects, and the recharge time for that attack seems to be about the same time as the full animation, which basically leads to huge flashes and smoke taking up my whole screen until they're dead. If I don't target them right away and stop the blindness, it can be a tough battle.

WP takes aggro while having resistance and defense to psi attacks, stacked with your bubbles that provide typed and positional defenses a rather nice combo to take care of them.

Malta Titans, Especially Zeus' Titans, are also very guilty of this.
Forewarned is forearmed, 'cos those things are actually more effective than a Blind Grenade.

Had my first run-in with a War Walker on my DB/Will Scrapper today. She cuts a path through pretty much anything. Except War Walkers. Those things just won't die. They must resist Lethal a lot and they even have a heal. Then just as I was winning "War Walker is preparing an Orbital Lance!". Yeah, no. I wasn't going to get hit by that. It sounded bad.

Still a +1 War Walker is pretty much a dead-even fight for my Scrapper. Neither of us can win unbuffed, but a stack of reds tilt the balance barely in my favor.

70% S/L resistance, apparently.

I have got to fight these guys soon!

My MA/Regen Scrapper had little problem with the War Walker. Who, by the way, has not been respeced since I made 50 with her back around I5. It was actually an interesting fight, I had to pop off heals and generally watch my hp, but I took it down. As far as the rest of the IDF, I really only ran into trouble if I let those -regen blasts stack up, or if I didn't immediately hop on the Seers throwing buffs and Psi around.

Of course, lest you think I'm bragging, Marauder simply murdered me over and over, even as a "mere" EB. Rage + Unstoppable meant I was taking 500-800 damage shots in the face repeatedly through 4 purples, and doing pinprick damage in return.

Wait, wait, hold up... where's my Orbital Lance power? Will it be in Alpha slot? Can I unlock it? Could it be bought as a temp???

Need this badly. If only so as:
- I can annoy my mate/playbuddy Lance
- I can legitimately say "nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."

Is it time for the dance of joy yet?

It would allow me to not have to go to Warburg to utilise Alpha's orbital Railcannon, Reason

I ran into one with my ice/mace tanker. First thought: oh, cool! Second thought (ten minutes later): dammit, used up all my reds. Third thought: (twenty minutes later) ah, the heck with it. So I left the thing alone and completed the mission objectives.

Stupid War Walker.

Haven't tried a different AT against one yet.

Ah, if it was named REASON you'd be using a (somewhat beyond) fully automatic Gauss gun* capable of slicing cruisers in half. Of course you'd also need a large body of water in which to submerge the heat sink.

Haven't fought the IDF yet, but the more i read about them the more i look forward to it.

*Obviously it's a coilgun. A full auto railgun would quickly burn the rails away.

Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...

I wanted to try my 50 en/en/force blaster against a War Walker, but the mission Maria Jenkins offered was against Marauder. At +0 (x0) with a build using just SOs, my blaster had little difficulty with Marauder as an EB. Unfortunately, that was the last mission Maria had for me. So I went to Ouroborous and picked up the Nightstar mission there. Ack. My difficulty settings = no War Walkers. Fine. I went to +1 (x0) with bosses. Still no War Walkers. At +1 (x3) I got War Walkers.

Alas! Pretty much the same as with my ice/mace guy - I could get the War Walker down to about one third health and sometimes a little more if I got in close and used melee attacks, but that was it. No problem dodging the orbital lance thing, but the stuns were ultimately my undoing. That, and running out of endurance. I used some of the accolade powers. No help.

Gonna try again with that blaster's alternate build with assorted IO bonuses and the fire pool.

Edit: Got him with the en/en/flame build.

Keeping him stunned prevented that <bleeping!> heal from going off.

Edit #2: Tried my 50 DM/Regen scrapper at +1 (x3) with all SOs (except for 5 Doctored Wounds IOs in Dull Pain) - FWAM-BAM PHOOM! Scratch one War Walker. Hope this doesn't mean there's a... you know what... coming.

Now you can graduate to the Siege mission (if it has not been fixed.)

-Siege looks like he always did (presumably a mistake given the info his new bio).

-He has the power set of a War Walker, scaled to EB levels(but not balanced to take him being an EB into consideration)

-Which means his heal goes off when he's at 1/4th health and heals him to half health. The heal has the same short cooldown as it does on a War Walker, but is more potent, so it'll be ready to heal him back to half by the time you get him to 1/4 health again.

-He can do this indefinately. I doubt any player, no matter the build, can spike him from half health to zero before his heal recharges. Most duos can't.

Good luck perma stunning him. /sarcasm

There's no special reward for the mission, since it's the old one-off it always was. Considering the state of the other one-off missions of Maria's (bugged, mix of old dialogue, old enemy groups, new look EBs and old maps) I don't think he's WAI.

But he'll give you an idea of what an EB War Walker would/will be like. As an AV, yeah I can believe 12 players would be needed to take them down.

What? Really? I had absolutely no trouble with Siege as an EB with the duo I mentioned earlier (Fire/WP Scrapper and FF/Energy Defender), I wasn't even attacking with the defender. And like I said, neither of them are IO builds, the Scrapper doesn't even have any set pieces at all yet. If Siege has the same resistances he had before, then fire is one of the 3 damage types he doesn't resist, but still.

Then likely it's been fixed. Was he using a War Walker power set or his old EM? What did he look like?

[Edit]This is the 'Shut down the Scanners' from Maria Jenkins mission I'm referring to, BTW. Set in Nova Praetoria at the WarWorks. Not the legacy Hero's Hero arc mission where both he and Nightstar show up in a warehouse.

Yeah, my group didn't even get to fight Marauder in that mission. They killed him before we even found the spawn :|

I took him down with a Mastermind/Dominator combo no problem. Between the heavy damage and the -Recharge, he wasn't any more difficult than any other Elite Boss.

He looked like red Citadel with War Walker powers.

Perhaps he was held with Domination and it kept the heal from going off at 1/4 health?

Or, as I said, he could simply have been fixed in the last month. I've not fought him since because there's no easy way to repeat that mission after you do it. It's a one-off that isn't currently in Ouroboros.

I'm working through that arc with my dm/regen, so I should run up against him soon.

Siege? The version I'm talking about is not in the arc. It's a standalone mission Maria gives out either before or after the arc.

Siege also shows up in the old Hero's Hero arc in a mission with Nightstar, but he's his normal old Energy Melee/Energy Blast self there (and in AE if you make a mission with him).

Ms Jenkins was all like, "You do this arc now, you young whippersnapper! Right now!" So I got started on it and was making progress and then she insisted that I take Statesman with me.

And I was like, "Aw, do I have to, Ms Jenkins? He'll steal all my kills!"

At which point she whipped out a broom and started hitting me about the head and shoulders. So, anyway. I'm working through that arc.

He was the old model with the War Walker powers, Orbital Lance and the crazy heal and all. He took longer to take down than his old version, but he wasn't super difficult.

Okay, finally got to him, and yeah - 'war walker' Siege is ridiculous. It's looking like it's going to be another <bleeping!> stand-off, just like my ice/mace tanker vs a boss War Walker. My DM/Regen scrapper can't out-damage Siege's heal, and so far he hasn't been able to defeat my scrapper. Gonna load up on reds and see if that will do any good.

Edit: well, my scrapper prevailed. It took three reloads on inspirations - the third time I used 15 out of 16 small reds. Funny thing - when he was defeated, he dropped War Walker parts, which are much bigger than him.
