So, I've dealt with the the "driver stopped responding issue" on my nvidia evga 8800 gt ssc card for a long while. Followed all of the steps available but it never really went away. Recently, from another thread, I had discovered the EVGA Precision program which is used for overclocking. I installed it with the intention of manually controlling the fan (turning it up assuming there was a heat issue) as well as monitoring performance.
Well, last night, on a 6 controller/scrapper/warshade team with lots of effects going off, I ran fine for quite a while but at one point got that annoying message as the screen went black. I quickly switched over to precision to see what the temperature was, expecting it to have pushed 95+ degrees. Instead, it was still in the 70s but the GPU appeared to have spiked to 100% utilization at that time (and dropped off sharply right afterwards).
