COH goes to black screen after playing

I log on to play city of heroes, and after playing for approx 10 minutes the screen goes black. The computer is unresponsive and it sounds like a sound is continuing to play in a loop. I usually have to hard restart the computer. I have a Toshiba Qosmio laptop, nvidia 9800 gtx, 4g ddr3 with windows vista 64bit ultimate edition.

Your video card driver installation appears to be corrupt. Since the sound card drivers are showing a standard date format, that leaves out the only other explanation for the odd date showing on the video drivers. Since it also isn't showing a driver version, that has me concerned.

I'd recommend downloading the most current drivers for your laptop, downloading and installing Driver Sweeper, uninstalling your video card drivers, rebooting to Safe Mode and cancelling any hardware installation wizards, running Driver Sweeper to remove the remnants of the nVidia video card drivers, reboot into normal Windows and cancel any hardware installation wizards then running the installer for the drivers you downloaded.

You may want to try the nVidia Mobility Modder tool and download the newest drivers from the nVidia site and modifying them with this tool so that you can install more current (non-Toshiba) drivers.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

I was able to do everything except for modding the driver with mobility modder.net. I am still experiencing the same problem. Here is the new help file:

that's weird, the new help file isn't showing the updated information that I can see in device manager. The device manager is telling me i updated the driver correctly because it now has a version and newer date.
