I've been considering getting a new router with wireless capability (but still has wired connectivity), since my Wii doesn't really work all that well with the wireless dongle thingie that Nintendo made. It doesn't handle going through walls all that well and the computer is in another room.
My current router is about 5-6 years old. I think I've updated the firmware once or twice.
This wouldn't be for iPod/iPad/DS/laptop/etc., just for the Wii, if I did get one. The wireless capability that is. It would still need to have ports on it.
Any recommendations or thoughts?
Edit - By 'necessary or advisable', I meant is it either in terms of age of the router itself? Am I still getting any protection, at this point, from it's firewall? Or is that just basically a feel-good type protection to begin with?
