I've already got a fire/fire that I love and do'nt play, so making and lvl'n a new blaster seems a waste. rolled a rad/em but couldn't stand it long enough pve to get it higher than 33 or so.
Its the ruling out the cold mastery that's hurting you. Fire blast can carry you a lot. In particular built right. I pvped on an ice/fire blaster for years so I know that /fire pretty much gets you bu. Make sure to proc up ring of fire and you will have a 3 solid hitting attacks even while mezzed.

I still consider myself a pvp noob, but here is my experience:
i have a fire/fire blaster and has done fine in pvp-reached a rep of 400 a month or two ago
/fire doesn't help much, but your primary is great for quick fast damage
there are better combos for blasters but you should do ok
also, i agree that Cold epic is the way to go
Not really worried about the set bonuses, more so the powers. I know /em is the good one for blasters, but whats good if your taking /fire. Ice app is out, but is the fire good for the hold and resist, or just go power for resist and pff if needed.
