Try running the program again. If that doesn't work, tell it to go into safe mode (see the click box on the patch box that pops up when you first run the program). Let the program load, then exit and run it in regular mode again.

Are you trying to run CityofHeroes.exe or are you running the CoHupdater.exe?
You need to run the Updater so your game will be the current version that's online.

Unless you give us details, it is very unlikely that we will be able to help you solve your problem. First, what are you running from--the updater? A bypass? What, exactly, is the error message you see?

From my perspective, it appears the OP is experiencing a problem I've seen reported on here before.
They are able to log in, but instead of seeing Freedom, Virtue, Justice, Champion, etc.. the server list consists of file names from the client, which cause the game to error.
Last time I saw this, it was fixed with a fresh registry install. Sometimes it is caused by trying to run the game from several Windows accounts. Only one of them performed the update, so the other registry info needs to be fixed as well. Assuming you are using the NA client, that can be done with this file.
My friend had this trouble when he started up playing again recently!
What fixed it, oddly, was simply right-clicking on the CoH icon, and choosing Run As Administrator.
Suddenly, it worked just fine.
