Can't see contact pictures on Laptop

I've got a Dell Inspiron 1545, and for the most part, it runs CoH Very smoothly. However, It insta-crashes when I go to monkey with the graphics slider, and, as the subject states, I can't see the contact photos. Is this a consequence of running CoH on a machine that, to my knowledge, has only software graphics enhancement, or is this a Win7 thing? Any help would be appreciated.

It's really difficult to troubleshoot without concrete information.

Please post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system (including the drivers), and the CoH installation and settings.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

If you are having an issue with the graphics adj slider crashing the game, run CoX in 'Safe Mode' (theres a check box next to the 'Accept' button on the second page of the launcher.) Then go to your graphics options, you should be able to safely adjust them.

EDIT: There is a newer driver on the Intel site, but I don't know if it will install or not. Dell and other OEM's often tweak things so that the standard drivers won't install.

There is an unsupported work-around for this and the instructions are posted on the Intel website for how to force the Intel drivers to install on a system that the OEM has tweaked.

Rassum frassum old-timer's syndrome causing brain and eyes to play tricks on me.

Dell also has updated Audio drivers for your sound chipset so I'd recommend installing that as well.

It appears that the latest driver is installed already, you might have been looking at the sound drivers, which are old.

You're right, I was expecting the video drivers to be out of date and my mind played a little trick on me there showing what I expected to see instead of what was really there.

My apologies.

Well its not going to help but you should be happy its showing them at all

The last patch for the 440mx card that was on fixed an issue that stopped the game crashing when displaying the contacts pictures and costume change window pictures which fixed a few other 3d cards crashes as well.

However the fix still didnt make them display correctly and a lot are just odd pictures now, usually small pics crushed up in the corner of the window, others dont display at all but hey its better than crashing

Ah, but that's the thing. It isn't showing them at all. And thank you for pointing out the costume change window bit. That doesn't work either. Well, the good news is THOSE aren't making me crash.

Ignore this. Definitely a blonde moment. After posting, I decided to check and sure enough my video driver was out of date. Once updated -- well, lets just say I should have done that first.
