New player - scrapper build help: DM/SR
I'm open to other power set suggestions with this in mind. I prefer swords or dark melee for my attacks. My defense...anything that isn't shiny or covers my body (i.e. flame auras, dark armor, electric armor.)
For reference, my guy is a huge Bull from space..Taurus. Anything that can fit that theme, lol. I have him dressed in minimal clothes now, just a kilt. I plan to make some sort of space armor suit for him as well.

This might not be most efficient build for a DM/SR but it should be cheap, you're softcapped to all positionals and have decent recharge. +HP and +End Accolades would help. It could be a good starting point until you make more inf to perfect it at a later point if so you wish:

Thanks for the reply. I had left off IOs since those are new to me and I'm not sure how easy(cost effective) they are to obtain/make. The main help I needed was addressing the early power choices and I like your suggestions. A lot of builds I looked at only show two attack powers early taken until in the late 20s. If you have no influence that is really rough on the leveling.
Hopefully my Taurin from Aldebarran, space cow, can start to have fun soon. Deciding between him and a Storm defender inspired by Aqua Man.
DM/SR has hoops of synergy. The obvious synergy of having the -ACC debuffs effectively buffing the DEF of the SR can't be denighed. Quickness helps Dark Consumption and Soul Drain come back that much faster. But there is something else. DM/SR doesn't need to take the Fitness Pool. With Dark Consumption and the lack of END eating AoEs, a DM/SR develops faster without it.
I made a DM/SR back in late I7, well before IOs came out, and it worked pretty well. With IOs, it works even better. I did it with my DM/SR stalker, too.
The biggest advantage to be gained my skipping Stamina is, of course, a build that can take the SR passives much faster.
Basicly, the build goes like this:
Everything in DM except confront.
Everything in SR.
CJ, SJ and Hasten.
3 from Darkness Mastery or 3 from Energy Mastery, and a wildcard at 49. (I like Super Speed)

Ok, so I took your advice and tried to make a build without Fitness so I get the passives earlier. I have Ninja Run so I didn't take a travel power. I probably should have taken Hurdle instead of Swiftness. My character is level 9 now, not too late to reroll and switch out that one power. Not sure if this is too heavy on the power consumption, but it would be a long time before I added those heavy drainers and by that time I might have more influence or could change around the build.

I'd STRONGLY recommend stamina if you are just building with SOs. With quickness and hasten your attacks will recharge faster and consequently you will burn end faster. You are also going to be running at least weave on top of your 3 SR toggles and that only adds to your end consumption rate, and I don't think Dark Consumption will compensate for the lack of stamina for your first 41 levels.
During your character's journey to 50 you should be able to amass at least 10 million inf on top of your expenses on SOs. If anything try to get a steadfast protection +res/def unique to put in tough. This will put all your defenses at 42%, just 3% shy of the softcap. With that level of defense you should be very sturdy.

Greetings,
I just came back to the game after a 4 year hiatus. My last played time was 1421 days ago. Many things have changed. My highest character was a 31 ice/devices blaster so I decided to start anew.
I have just a base knowledge of how inventions work after doing the missions. I'm new and cashless. So I need something that is cheap. Below is what I have now. Just remember I'll probably have Training and DOs for the majority of my leveling time.

I'm open to any changes. Currently just playing with the build tool. I changed Siphon Life to damage instead of heal. Looks like that is going to be my best damage attack. The heal will just be a nice secondary effect. Other than assault and Tactics I thought about Focused Accuracy and Physical Perfection. Basically just looking for advice on powers to avoid in the set, must haves, or simple slotting advice. A leveling build that can be tweaked later on. Just looking to have fun, but not die a ton while doing it.
