Even ignoring that. Even ignoring their "no kill shelters" that have 98 percent and higher kill rates.
It's just that Peta is nothing but a group of ineffectual attention whores that does more damage to the concept of treating animals ethically with it's actions.
I remember when I was in college, in 99 or so, there was a story of some Peta antics in Australia. It seems that a group of Peta activists had stormed an ambassadors residence. To protest against "the murder of termites." While the place was being fumigated. With no protective gear. A number of them were hospitalized.

They also left it up for awhile. When things look like they're going to get a little bit too antagonistic, however, they do lock things up. Not sure how kindly they'll take to you posting this here, though. A lock is a lock after all.
