Hmmmmm, I was going to say at the 2nd picture that he needs a haircut, but you already covered it. I think he favors the shorter haired look.
Kind of miss having a dog or a cat around, but then I don't miss looking after them, either. I live vicariously, though... know plenty of people with pets.

And as puppies tend to do he grew up and still was pretty cute.
But how do you make something that is so cute, well, cuter?
Well every March we here at the Scooter House have an event called Shave-a-palooza. This is when we (mostly me) give one of the dogs, a-fluffy-white-haired-sheds-like-mad, and the two long haired 20 lb cats hair cuts. To help them deal with rising temperatures, and us relief from pounds of fur shed unto our couches.
This year we had a new participant..so I ask you again. How do you make something as cute as that picture above cuter?
