A Thorny Situation Bayani vs. Blackthorn (Thornster)

A new commission added to the Bayani gallery as a part of the Rogues' Gallery project. Blackthorn created by CoH player Thornster. Lines by Kevin Sharpe, of X-treme X-men, Gi Joe, Legion of Superheroes, Army of Darkness, Avengers, Resident Evil, Nova and New Mutants fame.

Looks awesome! Is it staying B&W or is it going to get colored? Looks great as is, though. Nice action & movement and nice detail in the lines.

It's going to get inked. Maybe add some fire effects for Bayani and more thorns on Blackthorn's punching arm. I'll get it colored eventually as well, though I'm still wondering what to do there.

I think Blackthorn was a really good choice for the Rogue's Gallery.

Very cool piece. My only "gripe" would be the spines coming from Blackthorn's back look more like spider/insect appendages instead of spikes. Although I guess I just look for more spines in general but I can see how that could get way too busy.

edit - I see you mentioned more thorns so that would work!

Yes, my instructions to the artist were to have Blackthorn trapping Bayani; the artist chose to use the thorns to do that instead of something like vines, sorta like how a Venus Fly Trap captures prey. I figure it was artistic interpretation there.

Okay that helps explain it a bit then. Still cool art and by an obviously talented artist.

Great piece Bayani. Blackthorn and Bayani both look great. Yes Blackthorn is more thorns and less spines but I have absolutely no problems with the artistic interpretation. Its very cool either way.
The details on Blackthorn's armbands, cape clip thingy, the head tatoo and that great expression he has ... all very cool.
