Kings Row police scanner?

How do I get a police scanner in King's Row? I went there at level 5, talked to a detective, and still received no missions. I hear there is a scanner available somehow.

Are you sure you talked to the right Detective? It has to be the one listed in your contacts list.

Once you speak to them there SHOULD be a CB radio interface at the top of your contacts drop down; clicking on that will bring up the mission select window.

My mind wanders so often you've probably seen its picture on milk cartons. - Me... the first person version of the third person Steelclaw

After I logged back in, the radio was there. I did the 3 in King's Row, plan on doing Atlas tomorrow sometime.

There are none in Atlas, it's too low. Did you do the Safeguard mission that doing three Radio missions opens up? If you stop a villain from robbing a bank ( when you enter the mission, the bank is a dollar sign on the map ), you'll get a jet pack for the King's Row Safeguard. And a Zero G pack for the Steel Canyon Safeguard and so on.

After doing three radio missions, you get the Atlas Park safeguard. That's probably what he meant.

I think he is referring to the Atlas Safeguard.

I tried it, and failed miserably. By the time I knew to look on the map for the Bank, at least 2 minutes had gone by.

Failing a mission isn't the end of the world (well sometimes it is, but not in this case). Just run three more and try again, or try to find a team.

We can assume that the police back-up squads captured them - so it was only a set-back, not a failure

My usual trick with these at low levels is to get to 9 bubs of XP or so before entering the Safeguard. The exploration badge gives a bit when you first discover it, as do the mobs in the lobby of the bank, so I try and leave enough that I ding the next level in the lobby, preferably as I defeat the last mob in the lobby. That full rack of third tier inspirations that get cast on you when you ding, plus the increase in level, should give just about any character enough edge to easily beat the robber.

With that being said, i tend to do the same thing in the kings row safeguard since that damn MA robber always gives me problems!

Eat some pez right before you kick his keister. Works wonders. i usually don't have any problems with him, but then i normally solo the first two safeguard missions on my squishies to avoid team-induced failure syndrome.

Did ya have a pint before ya went in?
That may or may not have been the problem depending on what you were drinkin.

That darn MA-using baddie can be a right royal pain if the all-powerful god RNG is displeased with you and you forgot to bring the proper offering of a break-free. He (the robber that is) loves him some Cobra Strike, it recharges pretty fast, and one of my characters got stunned three times in a row back to back, unable to do anything. Oddly enough though he missed every other attack, so maybe RNG just needed a laugh that day.

OP, if you haven't discovered (or been told) the trick yet, it's this. Blue-side safeguards, RUSH the bank, ignore everything else, the robber's standing in the lobby just waiting for you to move a few feet from the entrance. Let not a single enemy in the bank get out. Red-side it's the polar opposite (unless you're looking to show off your AoE ability), you WANT to meander your way to the bank, that way you can take on the Longbow ambushes at a manageable rate, whatever that is for you. Those ambushes stack, and they WILL follow you.

Redside on teams with with numerous patch and rain powers rushing to the bank can be fun. Run into the bank ASAP and just start stacking the powers in front of the lobby door and watch as Longbow constantly pour into a churning stew of death. Especially with a Hurricane or two to keep them debuffed and unable to run out of the patches.

Definitely the KR one, too. I'll do the same on the Skyway and Steel ones for Controllers, Defenders and Khelds, at least. It helps a whole lot before you get to 22, when you can finally slot for some decent percentages on your powers.

One further thing to make note of: had you raised the difficulty of your missions? Accidentally raising the difficulty of your missions used to be a recurring problem for new players. Since the system was reworked, it's less frequent now, but it's still something to be aware of, just in case. Particularly on your first character, Safeguard and Mayhem missions can be very challenging at low levels if you're above the default (easiest) difficulty.

Heroes adjust mission difficulty at Hero Corps representatives, while villains do it at Fortunata Fatewavers. Both are found in most city (non-instanced) zones and are marked on the zone map. They allow you to do things like raise the number of heroes to which you're equivalent, giving you larger groups of enemies, and choose whether you fight Boss-ranked enemies as bosses or scaled down to Lieutenants. Personally, I wouldn't recommend raising your difficulty until you get a bit more comfortable with your character's capabilities, but Your Mileage May Vary.
