Question about Purple Recipe Drops
i dont know what the weights on drop % are, but i know you have a chance for a purple drop killing lvl 47+ enemies.

As far as I know, there is no weighting among purple drops - or among any mob drops, for the matter.

I figured there was not.
Just had to ask since I know that there is a weighting factor when doing merit purchases for random rolls so was curious if they implemented that anywhere else.

for merit rolls they just moved the pools they originally had for completing TFs an trials and did some merging to make the merit rolls.
purple drops are kind of in their own pool and not included in any of the merit/ticket pools, they just have a chance to drop when fighting lv 47+ enemies.

If there is weighting for purples based on Archetypes (which I doubt), it's not working right for my tanker. Last purple I got was a piece from Gravitational Anchor. Before that was a piece from Absolute Amazement.

i doubt its weighted on AT, but each purple set prolly has its own weight (only varying by like 1%), all purples have a fairly low chance of dropping anyway, but i am not sure what the actual drop rate is

Roll for chance to drop.
Roll to decide what category/rarity the recipe is : Common/Uncommon/Rare/Purple (common having a bigger chance than uncommon, either which have a bigger chance than rare, all three of which each individually have a bigger chance than Purples.)
Each recipe in each rarity is given equal weight to drop.
I know that the AE rolls are weighted, IIRC, and I've heard they might of (un/lower)weighted some of the snipes in merit rolling, but that's it.
There is no weighting at all in any invention recipe award system based on AT.

Pool A is unweighted. This is the defeat-a-foe pool.
Pool C+D is always weighted. This is the *extra roll* for drop that comes from defeating a boss. It's the same weighted table that the Merit Vendor Rare Recipe Roll uses and the Ticket Vendor Gold Recipe Roll uses. This info is from Synapse himself.
The Wiki says it's unsure whether Purple rolls are pool A, but I think someone on the boards here convinced me they were Pool A... that should be updated if I can find that confirmation.
Edit: Ah, here it is: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?p=2344003. I'm updating the Wiki to say that purple recipes are Pool A.

As long as folks are answering these questions, are there any AE recipe rolls that have a chance to drop a purple recipe? (I know at one point the rolls were broken and it was, but it's my understanding that now there is no way, but I thought I'd check).

Purples are only available as drops.

Is there some form of weighting when a purple recipe is generated for a character?
I ask this because my controller has had quite a few purple recipes but I was thinking about it last night and never got a Hectomb (Melee).
Now my scrapper has gotten a few Hectomb in the past (nothing recently for any purples) but I do not think ever gotten a hold.
So wanted to find out if it was just blind luck that it has worked out that way or if there is some weighting behind it.
(Seeing as I am almost completely finished wiht my controller's build and will be working on some of my scrapper builds and figure I might have to by some of those purples and not hope on getting them as drops.)
Thanks for any information.
