Reflections on Bubbling a Large Team

Okay, earlier today I was on my bubbler, got onto a full team, and had a blast. The team was about half scrappers and tankers, and there was one other defender, who had ice shields. We were a steamroller - took out a shadow cyst with only one death (mine) right at the very end. It was great. However, I'm fairly certain that for everyone but the other defender and me, it was a lot more great.

Why? Because the bloody list of all the buff icons everyone had was stretching halfway across my widescreen monitor! On other characters I just retract it back into the team window, but with a targeted-buff powerset as my primary that is not an option - I need it there, so I can see when my bubbles need to be recast. And when my bubbles are buried under a hundred other buffs, it's pretty hard to tell when that is, especially when there's nearly-identical Ice Shield icons as well (Ice Guy also lamented this). This is not pleasant when I'm trying to keep my teammates bubbled, sap enemies' endurance and otherwise attack them, and keep myself alive all at once... I very frequently find myself having to juggle my attention between about six different things in the heat of battle, and having to search through a Where's-Waldo of buffs just to be sure I'm doing my job right does not help. And I know how to fix this:

Can we please have an option to only show OUR buffs in the teammate buffs rollout? If I could just completely hide everything except the icons for the buffs that come from my own powers, it'd be a huge QOL change for me. It's not like I need that to show what other people have put on me - that appears in the top corner underneath my menu anyway. And honestly, do I really need to see whether Ice Guy's shields are still up on Tank? If they go down, there's nothing I can do about that, since my bubbles should be on him anyway.

Thoughts?

interesting idea, i think its funny when he buffs stretch across the screen, but if you dont want that, then you could try:

  • hiding auto powers (this usually cuts down the amount of icons to only applied buffs or self-ativated powers)
  • and/or change the stacking of the icons to be nmbered instead of default (this will just add a little number saying how many of the buff is applied to keep things like FS down and also help shrink this down alttle bit)

I would LOVE something like this. Maybe add Tarot to the list of what it would show, though. When I'm on anyone who gives out buffs, I don't want to see what everything everyone on the party has. I want to know who my buffs have affected and whether or not they've currently got a Tarot card. I normally keep auto powers non-visible, but I still have to look at the buffs from others, the toggles, and all that, and then I can't see Tarot.

if you go to http://www.vidiotmaps.com/downloads.php and download vanden's icon pack, it will give all the super booster powers a nice orange color so they are easily noticeable on the power bar (and makes some of them easier to tell apart such as the mission transporter)

I used to struggle on my empath (Im no 'He4lorz. I keep three fortitudes going at a time, as it should be.)
I mentioned this one time on a team, and someone mentioned hiding autopowers. Made my life SO much easier

Also check out this thread for a way to hide toggle powers.

Yeah, and preferably allow me to set when the buffs begin to blink as well. For the time being, you can use herostat to track your buffs to other people. It can do nearly what you want, but it takes up part of your screen.

I already do this.

Not that I'm against it, but why not just hit the little arrow to hide all buffs? Then if you see they don't a shield on them, rebubble them, or rebubble them a bit early?

Because this is when you start crossing into the area between game and chore.

Because with my dispersion bubble up, it's impossible to tell.

Recolor your other bubbles to something that contrasts with the dispersion bubble?

*shrug* Never found it to be a chore. Well, as long as it stays on a 4 minute timer. SB, on it's two minute timer, and once everyone knows your a kin, and then everyone saying SB! SB! That I find a chore. :/

More so, when you get invited to a team, for the sake of the granite who won't tank, if they don't have a Kin. :P

This is one I've always wanted. Turning off auto powers and enabling numeric stacking does help, like people have said, but buff/debuff lists can still get hugely long like that. The ability to only show mezzes that are actually affecting people would be nice too.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
