Unable to zoom with scroll wheel

So I finally got my new computer up and running and everything works fine except for one thing. The scroll wheel on my mouse will no longer zoom in and out and it's bugging me like crazy. Is there any way to fix this?

I'm running Windows 7, Mouse is Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 running Driver version 7.0, graphics card is an Asus EAH5850. Sure I can use the the keys for zoom but I prefer the ease and comfort of the scroll wheel. So does any here know a fix for this?

1. In the game try these commands:
/unbind mousewheel

/bind MOUSEWHEEL "+camdistadjust"
2. Outside the game try these actions:
A. Reboot

B. Delete your mouse driver and let windows install default.

C. Go to website of mouse manufacturer for an updated driver.

By the way, both of these commands do the same thing.
I'd stick with just using just the /unbind command (which doesn't really unbind, but sets it back to default), because as soon as you type "/bind MOUSEWHEEL", you run the risk of making a typo and messing up the bind.

I agree with everything else Zombie suggested.

Thanks for your advice Zombie Man, was hoping the first one would fix the issue, but it didn't and I've done the 2nd one 3 times and no luck. Just not sure why the scroll wheel isn't working to zoom in and out. I'll try and play around some more and hopefully something will come to me.

This might not be at all relevant, but my Logitech mouse didn't work properly until I set some of its mouse buttons to 'Generic Button'. Is there a setting in the Microsoft mouse setup that gives the scroll wheel a fancy function? Might be worth a look.

Try a different mouse on your computer (borrow a friend's) and try using your mouse on their computer. This will tell you if the problem is the mouse itself.

I've had a similar problem with my Mousewheel on the same mouse. Now I didn't have that problem with that mouse on XP. I'm still playing with settings to see if I can get it to work right.

So far I've tried my mouse on my brother's computer and the scroll wheel works fine and zooms in and out when playing CoX. However he's running Windows XP and also has the same mouse that I do, but I'm thinking it's not a hardware issue since the zoom is working fine on his computer. Also I tried it on other games that I have. I can use the wheel to zoom in and out on World of Warcraft but I can't do it with Dragon Age Origins. Right now I'm leaning towards SeedyXX theory and think that it might be some kind of setting that's just now allowing for zoom with the scroll wheel.

Well I think I fixed my problem, If I'm understanding it right according to this the issues seems to tie in either with the speed setting of the scroll wheel or the sensitivity of the scroll wheel. So far the scroll wheel works in game if I change the settings from what my mouse is, Comfort Optical Mouse 3000, to another mouse,Comfort Optical Mouse 1000, and this seems to allow me to use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out.

Yup. I just had the same problem. I uninstalled Intellipoint and reinstalled it. Only this time I picked 'Laser Mouse 6000' instead of what I have 'Wireless Laser Mouse 6000'. Works great now.
