PPD HardSuits And Mech Armor

So back in The Con of 08, I remember that some one asked one of the panels about getting the PPD hard-suit options for players. Sexy Jay stated that the pieces for the hard-suit were actually put in the game, just hidden so players couldn't access them because they didn't look at all good when used independently of each other or mixed and matched with other pieces.

That makes sense but I think I have come up with a solution and a possible avenue for some really cool new costume bits.

They should make another category of costume parts, along the lines of Tops, tops with skin, baggy, armored etc. Their should be some sort of "Ultra Tech Uber Mech Armor" type of style for upper body and lower body and head.

Instead of picking Robes or Jackets etc, some one could pick The new armor type set, which would contain PPD Hardsuit options as well as what ever other armored tech suit options Jay could come up with. They could even set it up so you had to have all of these together, so you couldn't say pick Armored top and tight bottoms.

This way Jay could make the parts all look reasonably good together, even if mixed or matched with other Hardsuit style costume bits. They could add new pieces to make new armored suits and be fully color customizeable and work with all the other armored suits. Then we could not only get PPD Hardsuits in a way that we can mix and match them and they'd work well, we could get a whole new style of costume and make things just that much more diverse.

This could always work well since as I recall, that other super hero MMO has mech suits of some sort, I wouldn't mind CoH stealing a little more of their thunder.

This would end up another case of "You can't use the Warrior Belt unless you choose Robes", or "You can't use big gloves with trenchcoats, because they clip with the sleeves (even if you choose None for sleeves so they can't clip)". As such, many players would dislike this, especially if using the "Mech Armor" category in one section forced it on the others.

There's also a decent amount of pieces that can create a Mech style look already in game. In fact, I think that the Enforcer set was specifically billed as "The closest we can do to a PPD Shell that doesn't clip horribly."

Having the option would be nice. If the pieces are actually IN game, that's even more reason to actually use them.

Having a drop-down 'Character type' would be nice. Either leave it 'Normal', what we have now; 'Power-Armour', PPD Shell and Hardsuit kit, 'Arachnos armour', for VEATs, so we could finally have more than one armour slot...stuff like that.

/Signed. To hell with clipping, I'm sick to the gears with that excuse, given how many parts clip as it is.

I agree with having a Mech Armour options. Just so long as it includes a lot of options and not just Hardsuit pieces!
