Non Combat Pets / Action Figures
This reminds me an old suggestion on what used to be the EU Forums before the merger.
For defeating AV's you'd get little non-combat pets such as Bitesized Babbage, Uk'on Pr'ple etc.
Eh. Not personally keen on the idea of having someone trailing a line of mini-pets that do nothing. Earning something to display in the base, though, sure.
I assume that, like existing non-combat pets, they'd be limited to one at a time.
@Roderick
I try not to assume. (Plus, only one non-combat pet (the vet award) comes to mind that I can think of, anyway - yes, you choose between 5, but you only get one of them regardless. If you got one for, say, completing each of the Surviving 8's TFs...)
Well for many of us who are collectors of sorts are now running out of things to do. I'm tired of grinding out TF/SFs day in and day out and I really don't need them for anything, its just something to do. Ive ran all the content many many times over in the past 5+ years.
I'm trying to come up with some suggestions that will give people like myself a reason to stick around and collect somethign else. Better yet, something new to do and collect.
Content is always good, but the small things in life are fun too, thats why I came up with this suggestion. The tech is already there, the devs just need to add to it.
I personally would love to have another mini game and collect things like Action Figures, and I can have some fun and chose my fav character to follow me around rather than the few we have now, that I personally don't like.
There are many Figures that could be created from the Sig heroes and villains, not to mention, a figure from some of our fav enemy groups..etc..etc.
We get these non combat pets from Vet rewardss, but it would be nice to have other ways to earn other Pets for the sake of fun.

A lot of work went into that suggestion since I had to create pet for every TF/SF and GM then provide a power description to it. Ended up with something like 20 non-combat pets that were all earnable though ingame actions and were an additional reward besides badges.
Avatea did pass the suggestion along to the devs during her weekly 'this is what the EU is thinking/suggesting' info dump but sadly I heard nothing more of it and it's doubtful we will.
Here's a link to that very topic
It's still around...nifty!
That was my suggestion, so awesome someone remembers both it AND some of the names!

For example, Completed the associated TF and earn its Action Figure (Complete the Positron Task Force, earn the Mini Positron Action Figure)

I bring my Rikti Monkey everywhere, so IMO this is a fun idea. Would these be similar to the non-combat, non-buffing Vet pets or the buffing Vet pets? Reason I ask is two fold;
- The buffing pets are (IMO) kind of annoying in that they die. If given a choice, I'd go for the non-buffing kind.
- However, if they do provide some miniscule buff, I had a thought that perhaps their buff would not work unless combined with the other "action figures". For example, a team could summon 1 of each (ie. Positron, Synapse, Sister Psyche, Citadel, Manticore, Numina) of the Freedom Phalanx TF "action figures", and in their presence the whole team receives various small buffs. Each "action figure" provides a different team buff. This is sort of like "completing the collectable toy set". Not sure if this is a good or bad idea, just something different I came up with.

Hey everyone, this is something I liked when it was first introduced. But we haven't really seen too much of it. As some may know the other game has these as well, they have a large variety of Action Figures generated from their main NPC Characters.

So my question is, how come the devs haven't elaborated more on these Non Combat Pets?
I would love to start a collection of Action Figures of the Signature Heroes and Villains in this game. Make it so that we can earn them. Purchase them as a booster pack..etc..etc.
For example, Completed the associated TF and earn its Action Figure (Complete the Positron Task Force, earn the Mini Positron Action Figure)
NcSoft could even make booster packs for special characters such as the Halloween Booster Pack, Winter Event Booster Pack..etc..etc. This would give many people something more to collect and have fun with and at the same time, another Micro transaction for NcSoft to help pay for future updates.
Not sure about most here, but badging has been a great mini game and it would be awesome if we could create another mini collection game with Action Figures.
Another suggestion, make a new tab in the badge window titled Action Figures or Non Combat Pets, and for each Action Figure or Non Combat Pet we earn, have a badge associated with it, so we have a way to keep track of the figures we have earned. And of course so we get more badges too
Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
