There IS a message if you are both online at the same time. I've seen it: "You are no longer global friends with @Whoever" in the chat box.
But if the other person is offline, or if you are offline and they remove you, no, no messages.

I didn't see any kind of message when I tried adding/removing myself from my other account. Am I missing something?
