Teams are the number one killer of soloists.
Fight/pull it toward a boat or other raised area and fight it from the edge of it so you can be higher up, and in melee range.

I wouldn't start a fight with the Spider without a tray full of defense to make sure nothing lands on me in the initial alpha strike. And it's helpful if you're the one hovering over the Spider to take the strike so that your helpers below survive to take it down.

Is there some trick to getting into melee range with the Jade Spider other than continually hopping?
