Design inspiration for CoH Buildings?
Pretty uncanny, reminds me of some buildings in autoassault too, with the lake and all

D: Toss me a hai @DarkNat My Fify glory: Renzer Dark/Dark Corr., Renzro Dark/Dark Def., Amartasu Dark/Dark Scrap.Less important ones: Fire/Fire Blaster,Ice/Ice Blaster,Ele/Ele Brute, Mind/Storm Troll,Fire/Kin Corr.,Bots/FF MM., DB/Regen Scrap.
I tilted my head on one side and it does look a little like the buildings in Boomtown, but then it also looks like some of the cheap concrete piles in the inner-cities of Russia... or Birmingham/Wolverhampton
Probably a coincidence.
I've mentioned before how much a city I live near resembles Kings Row in its downtown. The buildings here aren't quite as tall, topping out around 10 stories or so only, but otherwise it's not far off. There's no inspiration there either way really, it's just that both areas happen to be ex-industrial areas that are now just run-down, with a bit of revitalization here and there.
Actually OP's pictures make me think more of Fallout 3 than Co*.
And reminds me of Half Life 2. What a ... fugly building that is.

WHAT?!!? Not a single starbucks in sight?! Picture is fake!
@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!
That's just Brutalist design, not really what I see in Paragon. Maybe some parts of the Rogue Isles.

Nah, I'm in SW GA. There are undoubtedly many such examples all around the country though.
So, any architecture buffs in the thread- what do you think the inspiration for Paragon's design is? I hear it seems strange, but I have no idea how.
Not really a buff but it seems to me, that with the designs used - lack of parking, complete lack of suburban areas actually shown... It almost looks like they've taken picture postcards of skylines of cities, the shiny building exteriors, and put them down into a square grid.
Founders Falls changes all that, when you look at it for the first time. That zone shows a lot of flavor that does seem to capture a more old-world look or at least an older american city feel.
The entire feel of the COV zones is very different, and though I could poke lots and lots of holes in the layouts of their streets and buildings (like ... trucks backed into a space and there's a fence not 3 feet from their front end? how'd it get there?) it feels more realistic and very old-worldish. Not like, so old-world to look truly european, but not modern particularly, and that's nice, because half of it is rubble anyway so it all looks like a very worn, war-torn area.

That building has a waterfront view, solar power, and free parking. PERFECT!

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

It actually looks more and more like a building I've seen in a g-mod that you can fight in/around. But it isn't, it's just hideous.

You want to know if it's the inspiration for CoH architetecture? Go inside and check the elevators. If they only go between a single floor and are spaced as far as possible from eachother between floors, then yes, that's our muse.

That doesn't look like an actual building. I'm pretty sure it's just cg or cobbled together from other photos.
It doesn't mesh well with the weeds in foreground, there's no evidence of foundation that would need to support it's weight in that soil type while next to a natural lake.
The solar panels are most certainly fake as well. Aside from being at too steep of an angle with inadequate buttressing, look at the angle of the sun on the actress's hair. They have improper orientation.

While the Rogue Isles seems fitting, given that it's meant to be a disputed region with a long and bloody history of violence and corruption. And of course, half of the buildings are straight out of The World Of Tomorrow, contrasting greatly with the rest of the Isles.
I was watching a film earlier called 'Walled In' - not the best film in the world, but one scene / part of the film in particular struck me...

This building... An inspiration for some in the CoH world? I'm not sure where in the world the building is (possibly the U.S. i don't know...)
It looks a lot like those found in boomtown and the boomtown style maps. Also in other areas such as Steel Canyon (just cleaner looking in game).
Thoughts?
