The fall of player populations probably has more to do with school being back in session and other games coming out that people want to play (Uncharted 2, Ratchet and Clank Future 2, Borderlands, Left for Dead 2 just for example). The perceived drop this year is little different from last winter's perceived drop.
As to whether or not there will be a strong marketing push, that's... sort a of dumb question. NCSoft has already been buying up web-space to promote I14, I15, and I16. While I haven't seen as many CoH ads as I've seen CO ads, they've been out there.
We also know that marketing was at HeroCon keeping a lid on somethings they didn't want talked about. Ergo, if marketing didn't want Posi and company making some big reveals there, they've got big reveals planned for later.
We've also been hearing, multiple times, about the financial backing NCSoft is giving CoH. If you drop by the (old) www.plaync.com domain, which now directs to : http://us.ncsoft.com/en/ : you'll find that CoH is giving a rather hefty push on NCSoft's own websites. While nobody has outright stated it, the implication is that NCSoft is pushing CoH as hard as it's pushing AION. So, if you think about the marketing push that's been going on for AION, you'll probably see that same level of marketing for Going Rogue.
I doubt that you would see TV ads for any MMO in the near futture other than wow because with their freakishly large plater base, only they have the money for repeated TV Adeline what would be needed to be effective.
Orc&Pie No.53230 There is an orc, and somehow, he got a pie. And you are hungry.

Negaduck: I see you found the crumb. I knew you'd never notice the huge flag.
I think Mr T could play CoH.
Enjoy your day please.
I know as time goes on in the mmo worlds populations tend to get less and less.I have noticed on some servers the populations of paying subscribers have fallen some what.
I play on Virtue now having left 2 other servers already because of lack of populations and organized events.I have no problems now and thoroughly enjoy the larger pop and having tf's/sf's/hami & rikti raids at all hours.
My question do you think that the marketing team will spend some cash on really pushing the game and all it's features?Especially when GR comes out.Has anyone heard anything or was anything mentioned at hero-con?
You see WoW on tv all the time pushing their garbage, but, really nothing about any other games.Mostly I see material in gaming mags or websites,I'm thinking that CoX really should take advantage of GR and advertise the hell out of it,tv,magazines, and on the web.
I think when GR comes out it would be an excellent time to push the game, with CO being out and sucking and DC coming out whenever.I believe the marketing team should do a aggressive push on the game as an established superhero mmo with a solid player base.
