I16: Super-Sidekicking Explained

So when are we going to get cheese in the game? EVERYthing is better with cheese!

Where to find me after the end:
The Secret World - Arcadia - Shinzo
Rift - Faeblight - Bloodspeaker
LotRO - Gladden - Aranelion
STO - Holodeck - @Captain_Thiraas

Obviously, I don't care about NCSoft's forum rules, now.

Two huge problems I see... one you said you could leave team to help kick butt int he mission if the others agree.... well then you have to remove the bug where if you leave team and people use an elevator or such that it kicks you. or the ones with the timer limit when you leave team before your kicked.... Once you do these then I see the super-sidekicking work.... if nto then you just screwed alot of people over. I personally am not a farmer but I do see some serious flaws in the whole concept of your super-sidekicking.

16 isn't an issue like adding the Midnighters was but its combined changes are more robust, significently more so than a hotfix so it gets the Issue moniker because when it launches you're looking at approximately 70+ megs of data as opposed to 5 with a hot fix.
Corrected for spelling and grammer.

I have long been a supporter of City, singing praises where others would shoot it down and that's more IRL. After the content-light issues 12 and 13 (and 14/15 for me personally) I was hoping that there would be some advancement on the current threads reaching out to be tied up or at the very least expanded on (Darren Wade's arc for example).

For me this is another 'miss'. Color customisation, while great to FINALLY have, is something I will use maybe once and then it'll be forgotten about, swept away by the lack of any canonical content. Then we have customisable difficulty which will let those wanting a new challenge to have one in peace followed by the new SSK system whose purpose seems to be stopping those awful bridgers from ruining the 46-50 range despite datamining proving that not many actually do it.

Had it come out last year I would have probably been rejoicing but after the debacle surrounding Issue 14 I am jaded and cynical at anything we get from now on.

Well, this is mostly good. But, is there a way to turn it off?

I hate, hate, hate the mission arc (and it's a whole arc) REQUIRED to get into Cimerora (I'm looking at you Lady Jane, you suicidal witch! I've even created rotating binds for taunts to her about her boyfriend to give her a reason to kill herself to use if I'm on a team.)

So I usually join a high level guy with a low level on another of my accounts and rush throught the low levels missions until you craft the Rikti cure, to get 2 of my guys access quickly at the same time. Usually when I am invited to an ITF and I'm on someone that doesn't have access because I hate the arc so much.

So will this still be possible? Or will every one of my characters be forced through this tedium where I'll be wanting to off myself with Lady Jane?

I see nothing in the thread in any way implying that they are forcing people to do the whole arc and not just the last mission to get the badge.

From what I understand, and I will quote the original message that leads me to believe this below, it will be possible. The process will be somewhat clunky, but it can me done, and they are actually looking into solutions which will be less clunky.

What you will need to do is team with the higher level toon, enter the mish, have the higher level toon drop from the team and start slaughtering. Reteam just before completing the mish, and cheer as the "Mission Completed" flashes across the screen.

As for Lady Jane, just be thankful even if she dies (and you fail the mission), you still get credit for completing the mission and carry on with the rest of the arc with no penalty except a loss of the mission bonus.

Like I said, it's clunky at the moment, but they are hoping to find some other solution.

The original post already said they were examining better solutions to that. Also, you said you saw two huge problems, but you only listed one in your post. Did you change the your mind and decide the second is not a problem?

Well, don't be

As for Lady Jane - if you're feeling mean, you can lead her into a mob and let her be defeated - it'll finish the mission faster, but you get no success bonus at the end.

If you're going to be cynical from now on, what's the point in playing this game? For self-torture?

By the way, it's grammar, not grammer.

There's a different to being jaded and cynical than hating the game.

If Tyger hated the game, he would have quit long ago BUT he still loves the game, it's just that the last few issues have been a bit of a let down for him with their lack of decent story content so now he, like me and many others, is wondering when the endless parade of "NEW SHINEY!" is going to stop and when we're going to get some story content we can really sink our teeth into.

We still love the game, heck I'm really happy about power customisation but the big hog known as the AE is taking up a lot more Dev time than it probably should have...to the point where I don't think I'd have minded if the AE never happened and instead we got a whole raft of new story content with the devs using the new system to make a lot more awesome story arcs that much quicker.

At SDCC when the Dev team said that MA is the "Retirement Project" of the lore writer...does that mean anything to the masses?

I hope they expand on the ingame lore, factions, enemy groups and add more ingame story content not padding like SSK and AE/MA.

the XP increase for levels 1-20 being a nitroboost...thats a load of crap! Its the devs not wanting to work on level 1-20, the reason for that is simple...most PL's are from 1-20 and by changing the SK system we have now and "Nitro Boosting" that level range, players can do what is done in AE outside of AE...the devs go around the problem instead of fixing it!

If the devs are really going to focus on MA for their content, fire the damn story writers and hire new tech peopleto give the dumb masses new shiny roundabouts to the ingame problems!

I feel the same as Tyger and Dr_Mechano and add to that the fact that I16 has nothing in it, so far, to illicit more than a "meh" from me. It's just another piece of fluff that holds no interest to me. I want new content and preferably, not the one you can have by shelling out more money.

Time takes time

When the dev team was 15 people, all they could do was work to advance the story and a few hotfixes every issue. That was issues 8 through 11 right there

NCSoft bought the game outright and decided that it needed more shineys, as all it's other non-Korean MMOs were either in development or tanking horribly.

Making the game LOOK newer to compete with actually newer games is what this expanded dev team is all about. And when the story does go forward with Going Rogue, don't expect to find any clues about the 'Coming Storm' or what Darren Wade is doing in the bathroom. Get ready to start a completely new story and be prepared to let the old one drop

So we'll file the "The Coming Storm" under the same things as the CoP trial, The City Vault, Blood of the Black Stream (which even has ingame hints), Incarnate EATs and the myraid of other things that the dev team worked on but then through bugs or just plain deciding against it at a later date, ditched...

...if they do that...sorry but that is really poor, you don't build something up for over two years and then just quietly ditch it unless you're the Fox Network.

I don't want fluff and padding, I want new stories that are ingame. I also find i16 to be a big meh...I'll play a few toons with added customization but that will only last a few weeks

I dont see how it is sooo easy for us to make content on MA but the devs cant do that ingame?

Bravo! Well said and +rep for that!

Bring on the stories that have been hinted at. We need more story arcs and not just in the expansion.

No.

Solo farming is solo farming.

Farming does not have to be solo.

Is a Heal Farm just teaming?

Is an Illusion farm just teaming?

Your definition is too limited.
Technically you're right, but the types of farming you're mentioning are extremely rare compared to farming for drops, which was what PP was referring to. She's quite right that optimal farming for drops is done solo.

I'm quite sure the devs haven't forgotten The Coming Storm. But first and formemost they have to create the new shineys that keep the subscription money flowing. The good news is that the team is now up to over 60 people and they still have open reqs, and that'll let them tackle more tasks simultaneously than in years past. The Comicon video showed them saying that they're going back and reworking a lot of the low level content, for example. That's something that players have been asking for for 5 years. Plus while they're working on i16 and Going Rogue, they're also working on killer new end game content and a way to power up level 50s without raising the level cap. So they have a lot of irons in the fire.

They've hired new writers but it takes time for people to get up to speed and get content into the game. I'm confident we'll see The Coming Storm plot moved forward. But no, I won't take any bets on exactly when that will happen!

Why hire new writers when all we get is a new arcs here and there every few issues? you would think with the amount of writers they hire we would have tons of new arcs and ingame content... they seem to be dead weight. I am sure the devs must have a grand book of lore in their offices that tell the entire story... what is there to get up to speed with?!

They forgot about the coming storm that or GR is the coming storm... and nothing more. I am not a programmer and maybe I am oversimplkifying this...but MA is so easy to make a mission.. why cant the devs do the same and add new arcs every few patches?

I do not see the harm with adding a new 5 mission arc monthly.

I think the devs, who sents several years bringing us content, decided to actually fix the game, new powers, effects, QoL, balance. Which i've wanted them to do FOREVER. Get the game fix before adding more stuff to break it with.

Would there be a way to self exemplar now. Say a sliding scale from 1 to your current level. This way you can finish/start an arc you passed, or just to street sweep a certain zone to earn a badge and xp? Since we can be explared via Ouro or with a person of lower level as team leader this would be one less hassle for requested filler. Since now you can get XP being explared it might be better to "stay" level 9 and fight Hellions until your xp count reaches level 50. Or maybe stay at level 29 and farm (ebil word) DA for drops but still get xp.

Better question why not totally go out of box and drop character levels all together. You start as a 50 but can be lowered based on the level of the arc/tf/mission or pvp zone. So if you're running a Posi Tf your toon is level 15, but after the TF is over you are back to 50. Seems you are almost doing this with the new super sking anyway.

Cuppa watch your Caps...dont get slapped...all caps like that are for lil emo kids and very immature, I can see you stomping your feet when you read something you don't like.

The devs fixes bugs? wow...I think they fixed so many bugs that I never noticed them? what about CoP, PvP, new zones for villains, more unique powersets that are not proliferations? I can keep going!

I am not going to say this game sucks because that is far from my experience, there are things other people would want other than new shinies to compete with a game that doesnt stand a chance...I would like to make the note that the devs are prolly crappin their pants at CO for them to step up the game at this moment.

Can someone tell me when CO and DCUO were announced?
