Which scrapper should I choose?

I have 2 scrappers that I have been working on lately. One is a lvl 35 BS/SD and the other is a lvl 26 DM/SD. I want to make one of them into my new main. The problem that I am running into is that I can't decide which one to focus on. Normally it would be easy, because I would just choose the one that is more fun to play. I can't do that in this situation because they are both a blast to play. I want to focus on just one so I can pool my resources and get it completely IO'd out. I come here looking for opinions on the potential for both characters. What would be the general pros and cons of each one, etc?

On a slightly related note, I can use some advice on how to go about raising funds for the eventual IOs. My only lvl 50 hero is a fire/fire/fire blaster who I shelved not long after hitting 50. I have less than 50 million spread out across all my characters on the server. And advice will be greatly appreciated.

DM/SD first. It has the heal and end recovery power built-in.

I have the following pimped out /SD toons:

DM/SD scrapper
ELEC/SD brute
SS/SD brute

The scrapper is pretty survivable thanks to the heal and end recovery powers when and if I need to use them.

As for getting money try playing the market. Or build up some merits, buy a miracle and resell it. Do this a few times on your way up to 50. Farm RV and the Cimerora wall and see if you can get a purple.

Depends on what your priorities are. Both can be made pretty tough through different means; for DM you have your heal and a lot of to hit debuffs, and for BS it's a lot easier to cap your melee defense, which is what you need to worry about most.

Dark Consumption isn't a reliable enough source of endurance to meet my needs; in non stop fights it isn't up nearly often enough, even with hasten on, so I wouldn't use that as the chief criterion. My DM scrapper is DM/SR, and I ended up getting all three of the +recovery and +end IOs to make that character more inviting to play.

Thanks for the advise. What on the wall drops purples? I farmed there for the first time today and all I saw were minions and lts. Is that all there is? If so, great - my blaster chews them up like nobody's business.

Anything you kill on the wall has a chance to drop a purple. Any enemy that can drop a level 50 recipe will have a minute chance of dropping a purple recipe.

I agree with you on dark consumption. I view it as a bonus. Parry make insanely easy to softcap melee defense - when I can remember to use it. I have taken to just putting it on auto. Looking at the two characters it does seem that my DM/SD will become a monster damage wise. How does BS compare in that department?

People including myself have had luck getting purple drops from the wall in Cimerora. It's not 100% guaranteed but if you're bored and you want to kill stuff, farm the wall. You'll get other recipe drops too and worst case you make a few mill after a copule of hours from other drops without getting any purples. Lts, bosses, minions. Usually I'm just beating on the minions and Lts because there aren't usually a lot of bosses on the wall.

And I've heard that BS does crazy damage so it's really personal preference as to what you want to do first. There are definitely avid supporters for both.

Remember to be courteous on the wall though. Wall farming has become popular enough that you'll often have a few people competing with you for the spawn. If anyone else has aggro before you, don't jump in (especially if you've got an aggro aura). Clean up your trash, especially if they jump off of the wall. If you do accidentally, jump into another guy's mob, send a tell and apologize.

Of course, I predict that wall farming will see a substantial drop in popularity come I16. Being able to spawn missions for 8 while solo without having to bother with fillers is going to be quite awesome.

I just hope he is not on freedom. Its hard enough for me to find a mob with just Umbral there... ;-)

I have decided to level my DM/SD up to 35 and then choose. I am really looking forward to this. I have really been enjoying scrappers.

DM/SD and BS/SD both have some strengths. DM having the built in heal and end recovery power. BS having more AoE and parry for easily soft capped melee defense.

As far as making inf goes, the wall is a good start for making some influence. One or two purples can put you at the 300 ish million mark. But they are ultra rare for a reason.

Another thing is to just run some TF's on your DM/SD, save 200 merits and sell a lotg +recharge at level 25 for 100 million.

If you run a lot of AE stuff, you can just roll crazy amounts of bronze rolls and make some decent cash (especially after 2x weekend where I'm sure prices on things are up)

Once you have 250-500 million in the bank you can get some decent turnover on the market. Check the forums over there for some guides on how to do it.
