Disappointed in Attack Vitals Combo

Slowly leveling a WP/DB and testing out all the combos as I go, and just achieved Attack Vitals at 35. Scrapper board posters suggest that Blinding Feint + the Attack Vitals combo is the best single-target DPS, but I'm as underwhelmed by this combo as I am by the Empowerment one. Does the bonus damage increase once the power is slotted, or is it static?

I suppose that becoming more skilled at using the combo as a cone might make it more worthwhile, but I find that most difficult at the end of a combination.

I typically use as much AoE as possible for the toon and am fairly sure that I'll keep sweep, and possibly weaken, but I'd like to have a (near) gapless single-target attack chain, too. Any suggestions about dropping Ablating Strike, Vengeful Slice, and/or Sweeping Strike? (The build will not have gobs of recharge.) The cast time/cone on Sweeping Strike seem to be its only argument over Vengeful, and Ablating is necessary for the Weaken combo.

I would hit 36 and get Sweeping Strike slotted for 3 dmg before making any decisions. If you aren't already, I suggest using Blinding Feint before starting the AV combo.

Getting better at positioning yourself for cones would definitely benefit you since DB has two pretty good ones.

As for the combos, I only kept Sweep and Attack Vitals. Weaken's debuff gets resisted pretty easily and Empowerment's buff wasn't worth the time it took.

Thanks for the response--and I did hit 36, three-slotted Sweeping Strike, with a kin/ on the team, and I was filled with glee making the much larger Vital Strike word animations. (Might've ignored the tanking business a little just to make more pretty words.) Also worked on getting better at ending the combo with a cone. (On other toons no problems opening with one and a strafing movement for maximum coneage.) Now salivating over a future that alternates Attack Vitals and Sweeps.

I had spec'd out of Blinding Feint, mainly because Empowerment is lousy and I wanted to try all the others before 40+. In retrospect that was a mistake, since the only really dangerous mobs are ones that his to hit isn't capped against.

I'm only up to 32 on my Inv/DB tanker, but I'm looking forward to putting the BF->AV chain together. And it's always a good idea to slot up powers before judging them, as there are only a few (attack) powers that are at all impressive without slotting.

I do enjoy Attack Vitals on my stalker. The DoT on the end is nice when that guy just has a sliver of health left.

They ALL float down here. When you're down here with us, you'll float too!

Yeah, do not drop Attack Vitals, it's a very nice cone/combo. I hate exemping below 35, as I lose Sweeping Strike and the AV combo, the lack of which I feel quite keenly. 35 and up, you are a swirling dervish of doom... losing that makes you feel very lackluster.

I usually open up with the AV combo and follow it up with the Sweep Combo: most minions around at the start of the AV combo will drop as 1k Cuts animates, and the Sweep combo takes care of the rest. Works quite nicely, and I hate fighting small mobs while solo, as I can't work my AOE as much, heh. I get addicted to all the orange numbers flying over a bunch of enemy's heads.

Empowerment may be lousy but Blinding Feint certainly isn't. Frankenslot it for dmg/acc/rech and you can probably keep it constantly stacked for a 60% dmg and 20% tohit buff if you have Hasten running. But I understand that you may have trouble fitting it in since Tanker's are forced to take Nimble Slash, which I skipped on my Scrapper.
