I'm a bit dissappointed here. I came to this thread expecting for nerdrage and all I see is helpful communication.
What has happened to these forums!?
Considering that:
1. This patch was deployed on the test server with zero issues
2. No other veteran/booster/noncombat pets have ever caused this issue
3. The many thousands of Rikti Monkey NPC's already in game and all of the re-skinned Rikti Monkey player pets (Fire Imps) have never caused this issue
I really wish the devs luck with finding a solution...

We're rationing the Nerdrage for I-15 and I-16. We're good but even we can't keep up that level of intensity.

I am noticing that the Server Status page says:

Any chance we can get a server status page that is up to date?
At least I finished Act II in Titan Quest on my level 27 Spellbreaker, but damn, I thought that was going to take at least some time. :P I blew though that part and I'm like, "Can the servers go back up now?"

I get that bad things happen with patches, possibly even causing an emergency outage during peak hours. While this is disappointing, it's a natural consequence of any system this complex.

I'm a CoX nub so I'm sure this has been heard before but I'm going to say it anyway.
At least it's not like WoW.
8 hour downtime with practically unplayable performance after coming up, and on a major raid night. :P

Patch days are kind of problematic, but I was raiding on the Tuesday after Ulduar was published, and it was fine.
