The Perfect Soloing Toon

I am wondering what would the best soloing toon on coh be, like what archtype and what powersets ?

These are some builds which I think would be the best what does everyone else think, as I really do want a new alt built for soloing

Fire/Fire or ice/ice blaster
fire/kinetic controller
stone/axe tank
spines/regen scrapper

what do you all think ?

32 meaning tier 9 power, which can define a toon ( eg fire imps required on a fire/kin )

[/ QUOTE ]Oh. Uh. Some kind of Scrapper, then. Personally, I got a /Regen to 36 and deleted it because I felt horribly squishy.

What difficulty?

I am quite happy with a DB/WP scrapper myself. With build in health and endurance regeneration and decent mez protection you won't be needed to rest often. It also is a build who likes to fight multiple opponents at once so you can ply it well enough at higher difficulty levels.

I would vote against stone tank though. While they can absorb tons of damage, their bane is dealing damage. Especially when you go Granite and your attack speed is reduced dramatically.

Any /Willpower scrapper probably.

Maybe Fire primary as its all about damage. My DB/WP scrapper never has downtime and the only mobs I don't like a sappers. Even carnies aren't so much hassle.

Seconded. I've just dinged 50 on a Stone/Energy tank. Stone tanks are very much team toons. They need other people to dish out the damage.

Of course, if you hate dying and don't mind levelling up slowly then you might like it. You'll get plenty of time to finish story arcs!

My Claws/WP scrapper is a lot of fun solo, or soloing while teamed with a bunch of people (play style doesn't really vary on teams). Solo you don't want to be a Tank, too much defenses for solo spawns and not enough damage for it to be interesting.

For soloing across all levels (rather than just the last 11 or 12) Fire/Rad controller is pretty good from day one really if built as a Scraptroller : Things like Air Superiority and/or Ring of Fire give you some single target damage. The Rad debuffs plus Flashfire, Hot Feet and Fire Cages lets you melt hazard zone sized spawns (I was soloing them from about level 8 on).

Maybe i will give a middle road answer but in my opinion everyone's perfect soloing toon varies depending on indivudal playsyle and taste.

For me best soloing character is Mind/something troller. Mind/Rad is the best tho.

On your little list Stone/Axe tank is a big no i guess. Without SBing partner on your side you won't be using your best power, Granite.

If you want to play a tank in solo, pick WP. With extra end you can offer high damaging secondary with more attacks.

Fire/Fire or ice/ice blaster

I don't think Fire/Fire will work well. It just doesn't have enough mitigation. It's true that not much will survive your AoE attack chain but those that do will paste you.

Ice/Ice might be OK though because of it's slows. I haven't actually tried it though, so treat this opinion with caution.

I do have a Psy/Mental Manip blaster. He deals with small and medium spawns well 'cos of his single target mezzes. Large spawns are more of a challenge and large spawns that mez are death sentences.

I recommend taking Hover if you're going to solo a blaster. It keeps you out of reach of the nasty, brutish melee mobs that want to rip your face off.

Biased here, but Ill/Rad is the best IMHO

You can solo anything ( including GM's ) with a decent build, and the defining power kicks in nice and early at 16 with Phantom Army.

Can be slow-going sometimes, but worth it in the higher levels.

Claw/WP was my favourite trip to 50, though it was in a duo with another scrapper. My BS/SR was my fastest scrapper to 50 solo. BS and Fire are both good primaries on a scrapper to solo fast.

My Ill/Rad can solo GMs without an IO build but in general missions its much slower than my scrappers. My DM/SR can solo AVs almost as fast as my Ill/Rad but it did have a bundle of inf spent on it to do that.

If you want to be soloing AVs without being an Ill/rad then an SR scrapper is probably your best bet, Fire/SR, Claws/SR and DM/SR being the ones I'd take

If you want to take down lots of mobs fast and are willing to splash out to cover end loss then Spine/Fire is excellent scrapper wise.

I'm a bit of a scrapper fan all round to be honest. Maybe it shows with half my 50s being scrappers

Oh and Fire/Rad controllers are fairly lovely solo wise, once again end watching is somewhat required
