There are no US -> EU transfers available. This was offered in the past, as a method for EU players who had originally started on the US servers before EU release to move over to the EU servers. Once demand from those players had been satisfied the option was removed.
Perhaps then it is time to satisfy the apparent growing demand of EU to US transfers ?

This will never happen. The current doom threads show us that it could well be the death of the EU servers all together if this would ever be done one-way.
One list where all can be transfered to all will also insure people coming to Union. A one-way EU -> US transfer will empty the EU servers.

I'm fairly sure you wouldn't be allowed your name over on US Grinning Spade, when I played over there I started an MM and I wanted to use PIs names as names for my thugs, I decided to start with Dashiell Hammet's Sam Spade....only to find it wouldn't allow it, I renamed him as Marlow. Within 2 minutes of this there was a GM police drone watching me in Breakout. We had a nice conversation but I can only think he turned up because of the name. Spade in the States has racist overtones I'm afraid.
BTW I,m ok for global as i got Sekmet over there

i dont think a server merger or just opening up a eu to us or us to eu transfer system would be the best solution for this because there is a good chance this would end up in the death of the e servers apart from those of us who are die hards for our hom server
i recon the best solution would be to merge the log in portals so when you log in you either get the option to go to the us side or the eu side then pick your server, or you log in and both sides of the game have access to all the servers give the eu complete access to the american servers and the americans complete access to the eu servers
now i know creating a log in system for this wouldnt be as easy as it sounds for a whole lot of reasons but it dose make a while lot of complaning and arguing about servr mergers mute as well as addressing a number of complaints the player base has had for a very very long time now

Do we need another thread? - Looks like it does it, people keep posting them. And while I will not start one I will have my say (if only to present a balanced view).
Anyway..not starting a flame war here - but I do want to point out what I see as the problems are with your reply.
It's far more then just "making the decision" - there are things to consider, such as:
1) Cost - forking out to transfer a toon or on a US account code
2) Toon name - often stated as the reason not to merge is also a reason here - why should I give up my chosen toon name just because I want to interact with more players?
3) Badges - I'm a bit of a badge hunter, and if I had to start again on a US server I would lose all my Vets and Annual badges
I make no bones about the fact I support a server merge - however I understand that there are/would be issues to be resolved. So, I ask the question:
IF (and yes it is a big if) all the issues around names (toon and sg) would people still object to playing on a greater populated server?

No thanks i like my character names and would be very disappointed/upset/angry (yes i really do like some of my alts that much) if i was to loose there names in fact depending which ones i lost and how many i would more than likely leave the game as having spent almost the best part of 4 years with a good few of them and only now getting them to a point where i really enjoy them something as drastic as loosing a name would destroy my will to play them.
So that's a big NO to a server merge from me.

As nice as it would be to have more folks around, I'm not willing to give up (or share, but that's just me... 
)the character names that I've had, in some cases, since day 1 some 45 months ago. Even the more recent ones took some thinking about before I settled on them

Don't forget that the other half of the words mean something sexual. Quite hard to say anything at all over there. No wonder that they seem to curse so often.
But I am up to the challenge! Oh dear, the things you have to do to get a few more players.
I'd like for the servers to be busier so i'd say yes to a merge (if it was possible), but i'd want a new name for the server. It would not be right to call it Union or Defiant.
I guess the biggest issue is the duplicate names though, but i wondered if our global names could be used in some way to overcome this.
