To pwn or not to pwn...

Just spank em, and if the comment " Im just farming" comes upp, i just reply "So?, read the the BIG sign when you enter the zone" or you could say " Im just pvp´n" .

Exactly, people get blinded by anger in PvP zones (at least those who are less seasoned in the area), most of the time it's best to just ignore them, however excruciating it may be.

Good way to balance between being a PvP'er and a human I reckon.
[/ QUOTE ] What a silly statement. Thats like saying Humans don't get aggressive or want to win - which is very human. Or even worse that PvPers aren't human.

I was displaying the contrast of being firm (as a PvP'er should be if he wants to get any PvP); yet just, as a human should also be. Though I suppose that depends entirely on the person, which is why I applied those rules only to myself.

I'll put it down to bad word use, I would have used words that describe what a person should be, as 'human' is too general.

That isn't PvP, its griefing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, there was a thread years ago where I asked Bridger if when 2 people enter a pvp zone, one tp's the other to a mob and uses a web grenade and no other powers and lets the mob kill the other player. Was this griefing. Bridgers answer was no.
@Sweet Chilli
How did you go from holding a player so he can't escape and leaving him to mobs to teleporting? Your giving two different examples. In both examples it wouldn't be griefing if you did it as a one off and did more damage than the mobs, but just leaving them repeatedly is definatly griefing.
Well, both involve attempting get another player killed by npc's.
Some consider this a dirty tactic and it can be a bit annoying. I don't see how it's really griefing though, it's using the zone's hazards to your advantage. When it's done with flair, it's a thing of beauty.
Much like killing farmers, it might be a bit cheeky, but it's part of the game.
It requires no skill, its cheap and its nasty. The first example is worse as your using a hold which stops the player using insp, knocks off any defences and stops the player at least fighting back. Plus your leaving him so debt will be higher. That alone screams intentional. The second example can be escaped from more easily and i wouldn't consider it griefing if you were doing damage at the same time as the mobs.
I never said it wasn't cheap and nasty, but I disagree about skill and about it being griefing.
If it's happening repeatedly the player has options to deal with it. They can craft a temp phase, carry inspirations, call backup, go after the offender first or just stay near friendly mobs out of tp range and force the person to come to you.
Mmm, cheap and nasty.

My kind of girl
Ok so there is some skill if you want to cause a player that has insp and some skill in escaping these situations some debt, but the players that are going to be most damaged by cheap tricks such as these will be level 25, never PvP'd before, have no breakfrees and be shocked as its different to PvE. They are most likely to come across as whiney too. Couple of times being teleported into a mob or held within aggro range and they will never come back or improve.
Yeah - but at the end of the day its funny as flip!
@Sweet Chilli
And pvp continues to slide down the drain.
Not quite related but someone in RV last night was asking me questions. I spent some time with him and i think i helped him a little with pvp.
Another thing I tend to do is, if i am fighting someone with a glaring hole in their build I will exploit it obviously for a few kills but try to tell them politely where they need to change something. Ppl without acrobatics or similar holes.
PvP for me is most exciting against equal or better oponents who are up for a scrap.
I'd agree with the PvP being most exciting when there are equal sides, beating up annoying people is a close second though.
It's a PvP zone ... so it's up to you. By entering they signal their willingness to risk attack from another player.
It's not griefing you're just using the zone to aid you
The other night i teamed with /devices blaster, i must say it was very LOL to tp the moaner/farmer in the zone to the RV AV´s/hero´s Npc´s , got pwn´d good by Statesman, Back alley brawler etc...not very much skill involved but just to kill farmers/moaners....
Like said before, very cheap and nasty. But works when people moans about beeing attacked in a pvp zone
Well exactly.
People who enter a zone and complain when they get attacked or are tp'ed to a mob need to either toughen up or get out the zone.
If they are going to complain every time something happens then they are never going to like pvp and are just going to cause the zone chatter to get out of control.
Its called tough love. They either toughen up or move out with no loss to the pvp community whatsoever.
@Sweet Chilli
If they occasionally pvp then i'll let them farm/grind their xp. However if all they do is grind, then i WILL show no mercy.
The mobs are there to pass time until a pvper comes along.
@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!
Teleporting a player into a mob is simply bad sportsmanship; however, teleporting them into mines is a completely different animal, and is a fair and valid tactic due to the time it takes to place the bombs and the insight required to find a good place to, "set up".
Neither of the strategy's are griefing, simply annoying.
Griefing =/= Dirty tactics
Although someone that use dirty tactics, proves that is out of good solid ideas/skills whatever that means...
Let them whine. The only thing a petition can actually stand, is if someone is exploiting a bug so there is hardly something to be afraid of.
Once a match up has proven one sided and one person has been left deprived of all hope, further not mutually desired matches is grieving.
I will use the environment to defend myself and that means all NPCs within it. To win zones, when playing them for what they are, NPCs can play an important part anyway.
He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.

Using environment and NPC's are 2 totally different things.However the bottomline is that the devs built the PvP in CoX with PvE in mind.Hence the insane amount of PvE mobs in the zone which is utter [censored].
Have a look at any good PvP MMO.Only NPC's in zones are vendors and control point guards which are far better solution than turrets ([censored] turrets,if you cant zerg whats the point) and Drones.Drones are one of the worse things in a PvP game i have ever seen. Insta defeat capabilities are ftl.
Winning zones should never be down to NPC's should be down to tactics,player skill and group organization as well as build and effort.
This is why CoX PvP while a great potential remained only a great potential.Because the developers designed with Hello Kitty online approach and not with real PvP prospect.And thats why PvP community will move on if things dont change drastically now that excuses are over (cash backup,expanded development team and so on).
Besides competition is big and soon will be even bigger considering CO will have proper PvP designed from ground up (and one of the developers involved is a massive PvP addict so expectations are great) not to mention Warhammer that is going to be THE PvP game.
If NCNC not mind losing its PvP community because its so small like all the PvE people keep using as an arguement and their sub numbers keep increasing with this unbelievable rate (notice the sarcasm) then i guess they can keep ignoring PvP part of the game and not capitalize on it for more PvPers to be drawn into it.
My belief is CoX at its current state has maximised its potential in drawing people for its PvE.Never touched the PvP potential and its a shame.
Cant wait to see if they are going to revamp Galaxy City next which is in SUCH GREAT need for a revamp.
Now excuse me i got to go farm SO's in Sirens Call and after that need to get that really useful PvP badge.
Might be better to replace some drones with AV's/EB's, give it more of a warzone feel. Drones are probably still a good idea in Hospitals and the such, but a bunch of hard hitting critters with +perc chilling at the base'd probably be a better deal than what we have now.
AV's/EB's guarding bases would be far better.Make the spawn point in closed space accessible only to exit from it and not vice versa and drones no longer needed. Of course afterwards they would need to sort out the crappy PvP zones.
